They should have announced Lucie, and given her the spotlight.
However I’m wondering now if it’s not Lucie, and she is actually going to broadway to take over from shoshana, and these shows are just a trial.
Either way the whole thing has been handled terribly.

Shoshana has just extended until July so that would not fit.

Well I went to see the show tonight and thought Lucie was incredible. Such an emotional Jenna and I was all for it. Just think it’s such a shame she didn’t get to so much as say she was going on tonight. Granted many of us knew but loads didn’t and I bet some would have loved to have been there if only they’d been a bit on notice. It just feels odd to have Lucie go on without any sort of announcement.

people's sense of entitlement on here astounds me..... Well if there is a sense of entitlement in thinking it's only polite to make an announcement when a new lead cast member joins rather than swerving the point entirely then I'm very happy to have one!

Maybe when she does join the company as the lead cast member, then maybe you'll get your announcement. It's QUITE OBVIOUSLY not an official take over, as KMP hasn't left yet.

It feels like Waitress already had an official announcement for cast changes ready to go next week, and then weren’t v flexible in changing that up when Kat took some time off (however long that will be and for whatever reason) and Lucie started early. So seeing as they ARE making this big announcement next week, please dear god can they just make sure they cover EVERYTHING in one announcement for the sake of my sanity: - Confirm if/when Kat is coming back - Properly announce Lucie as new Jenna - Confirm when Jack is leaving - Announce new Ogie - Confirm if Laura is leaving - If Laura is leaving, announce Ashley as the new Dawn - Announce who won the karaoke competition to appear in the show (probably as Jenna lbr) - If any new pie flavours are in the works, may as well announce that also! Let me know if I’ve missed anything? 😆 All the while, I lowkey love that whilst all this drama is going on Kat is just casually posting photos on insta of her at her big Cancer Research charity event, where she apparently sang “She Used To Be Mine” 😅 http://instagram.com/p/BxiRx6pl30z

Maybe when she does join the company as the lead cast member, then maybe you'll get your announcement. It's QUITE OBVIOUSLY not an official take over, as KMP hasn't left yet. There's no need for the attitude or shouting at me thanks, it is perfectly possible to remain civil on this forum and this certainly isn't anything to get so worked up about when people are just making perfectly reasonable statements about the production team's lack of manners. I didn't say anything about her taking over yet, I said she is a lead cast member, which is or at least will soon be true. You seem to be missing the point that I was making that it is rather rude not to announce that she has joined the company, particularly when she has already now gone on for the role she will soon be taking over. The point really is that it would have not have been at all difficult to put out a short announcement, there is no logical reason for keeping it "secret" or unofficial (even other cast members are posting about it on social media!) and everyone already knows anyway, so the fact that the Waitress social media account is entirely ignoring it is just plain rude, no excuses. Not to mention embarassing for them now.

it's not a lack of manners, it's you expecting something that you have no right to expect.

it's not a lack of manners, it's you expecting something that you have no right to expect. It's me giving my opinion that the producers are showing a lack of manners, nothing more than that. Whether or not I'm "entitled" to expect an announcement or not doesn't change whether I think the whole situation is rude...

"Rude" seems an odd word choice. Rude to whom?
The company? Well, I'm sure they know what they've been rehearsing.
To the audience? If the producers- or indeed the actress- want an opportunity to introduce a new performer out of the glare of social media, why shouldn't they choose not to publicize the performance?
Not every production decision needs to be officially declared and not everything needs to be taken as a personal affront.

I remember happier times round these parts when opinions of all kinds were respected and discussed in civil fashion. Sad that a forum like this has changed so much. Forums are after all about opinion. We will never all agree on everything

And for its next trick, Theatreboard shall be changing a molehill into a mountain, before your very eyes... TheatreBoard’s mountain is a smaller than average sized hillock compared with the true, gargantuan mountain that is Twitter. The downright rudeness and entitlement demonstrated by so-called ‘fans’ on there is absolutely astonishing. I can only assume that performers are somehow required to engage with this because why would they otherwise?

And for its next trick, Theatreboard shall be changing a molehill into a mountain, before your very eyes... It’s a funny one isn’t it? It’s nice I guess that people have loyalty and fight your corner if they think you’ve been wronged. But if its none of their ‘business’ in both senses of the word & they don’t really have a right to complain. So Kat took time off to support a charity without asking the increasing numbers of MT devoted shrill fan-folks! So the production saw it as the perfect opportunity to road test their new signing. And as for one of the PCD taking over...none of our business! (Unless any of us has money in the show? No? As you were then).

I fully include myself in that though, as I did speculate whether Kat had quietly left through the back. I love the discussion element of the board but the blasting of professionals’ decisions based on speculation has always jarred with me.

Watching a video of curtain call last night, Lucie is very emotional and I can’t help but feel that she could not enjoy her ‘debut’.
It’s such terrible treatment of a performer, a west end new cast should be celebrated and a performer not being able to say a word about it is just awful. I hope Waitress explain themselves, it’s not like they can afford to lose fans.
