Strange as it may sound, people are getting paid with real money for doing their job well, not with Instagram stories 🤣

Strange as it may sound, people are getting paid with real money for doing their job well, not with Instagram stories 🤣 And in ANY job, a good manager knows that being payed their salary is not the same thing as making sure your employees feel appreciated and valued. I don't know where you've been working, but if my boss thought my salary was an excuse to not emphasize personal development, positive feedback and teambuilding, I'd be leaving fairly quickly. That's not a weird expectation to have.

The fact that you seem to believe that appreciation for doing exactly what her job requires can only be shown publicly via social media posts... yeah, that seems like a weird and unnecessary expectation to me, so let’s agree to disagree.

if anyone, in any profession, demanded to be be promoted just for doing the job they are employed to do, they wouldn't last very long.
Have you considered that maybe she feels lucky to be employed for so long doing a job she loves?

I love that you think that literally one example out of many is what I would determine to be the "only" way something can be done. Yeah, I think we're done here.

This is getting like the Wicked thread, where we have posts like "X must be the new Elphaba because she recently posted on Instagram that she bought a new house, so needs the money." You're assumimg how people feel and think based on your own interpretation of events. And then posting how furious you are for them.

Reading back that isn't what was said at all so it appears you are assuming something is meant in order to fit your own agenda

Now that's a completely different thing, so let's go over my posts, shall we:
"Seriously, if Lucie is on tonight I just HOPE they handled it well with Sarah. Honestly furious for her. The way they've been treating Stephanie Torns forever on Broadway, it wouldn't surprise me if they just.....didn't tell Sarah until say yesterday." - I absolutely have not assumed how Sarah is feeling. I've said that I hope they handled it well. I also claimed that yes, I'm not happy about it, but that's based on MY opinions on how things should be done. Oh, and I and insinuated that I don't approve of Broadway's treatment of ST.
"That's sort of what I mean - they'll have her in and out whenever they need her, but she doesn't seem to ever get any recognition for all her hard work. She seems undervalued at the very least - a cast member who will stay in the cast for years, perform flawlessly when needed but never demands to move up to principal has got to be the dream for any production, I'm always shocked they don't seem to pay much attention to her. As an example, it's so weird to me that they haven't done any instagram marketing of the joking "Two weeks only - our longest running Jenna!" type." - Again, I haven't mentioned a word about how she feels about the situation. I've talked about how I from an outsider perspective view ST's treatment.
"And in ANY job, a good manager knows that being payed their salary is not the same thing as making sure your employees feel appreciated and valued. I don't know where you've been working, but if my boss thought my salary was an excuse to not emphasize personal development, positive feedback and teambuilding, I'd be leaving fairly quickly. That's not a weird expectation to have." - This is literally just common business sense. Any manager who claims that a salary alone is enough to get people to do a great job is lying to themselves.
Sarah (And Stephanie) may very well be completely fine with how things are handled. That doesn't mean that I, personally, cannot feel differently.

You’re welcome to feel how you like, but a bit of self awareness mightn’t go amiss. FURIOUS! 😂

You're furious for people in situations you know nothing about? How noble of you.
Let me just sign off with this...

There’s a lot of hot air about this and it’s clearly spiralling. But the only truth is that no-one really knows what’s happening behind the scenes apart from the actors concerned and the producers. So it might be a good idea to wait and find out (if we even find out) the full story before all this pervading faux-outrage.
At the end of the day, it’s not like Lucie has just been chucked on last minute because they had nobody else. That and the lack of public awareness/recognition is what people seem to be angry about. But it’s been a poorly-kept secret that she’s taking over from Katharine for some time now. You can’t play a West End lead like this without preparation and rehearsal. It will have been planned well in advance... think logically.
We, Joe public, don’t have a right to know everything just because we want to. And in the midst of it all there’s a talented lady making her West End leading debut tonight. First and foremost, she deserves support.

It's so funny yet so worrying that people think that they can have opinion (and even strong ones) on things they have no idea about, just because they see one part of it on social media. The tweets above are very true...

The curious case of the musical that doesn’t have a clue of how to publicise itself suddenly generates massive publicity by sheer confusion alone. Is this some kind of post-modern anti-marketing thing?

Of course we don't know the full story but nothing good has really come from today.
The vibe on social media is generally very far from positive about how it has all been handled. The understudy, by all accounts, had been doing a good job when Kat is away. Lucie has been deprived of the debut she deserved by the lack of a proper announcement.
What a shambles for something that could have been such a positive and exciting change in cast.
