I don't know how I feel about this whole "she's had enough of this shift" promo. On the one hand, it's cute and fun, but in the other hand, it's a bit just odd as an advertisement choice. They've put it on the website now, as I'm looking up tickets because my friend wants to go so I may get her tickets before Katharine leaves as she's a fan of Smash. They really need to remove the "best availability" week thing, it's not a good look if you're wanting to shift tickets. What date does Katharine leave btw? I can't see it on the website at all?

‘She’s had enough of this shift’ sounds to me like Kat is sick to death of being in the show in London and can’t wait to get the hell outta Dodge! Not sure if it even makes any sense at all to the uninitiated who may have seen it in passing on the tube.

Knew absolutely nothing about the show and hadn’t heard any of the music, unusual for me as I am a bit of a MT geek. Really enjoyed it. Thought the direction and choreography were so inventive and allowed the story to flow. Upper Circle was closed last night and our £20 tkts were upgraded to centre stalls. KMP plays the central role with such stoicism and sang beautifully. Only negative for me was Jack McBrayer. So over the top. I was really immersed in the story until he came on and then it felt like the show stopped whilst we had 10 minutes of panto ‘schtick’. Felt sorry for Laura Baldwin after that as she’d had such impact before he arrived and was then relegated to being his sidekick for the rest of the show. Four 🌟

I really enjoyed this last night. It's a very charming show and Katherine McPhee sang beautifully. She could have done with emoting a bit more to really amp up my emotional connection to the character, but "stoic" is a good word to describe her portrayal.
I can't say that I loved the direction. The pacing was off at the start... I actually thought the cast seemed a bit bored but, as the show went on, I realised it was just a bit of a low energy start to the show. I hated the ensemble wafting around with the pie ingredients too. It looked very am dram.
That said, numbers like Bad Idea were wonderfully staged and I thought the show got better and better as it went along. I actually loved Jack McBrayer, as OTT as his performance was. The audience lapped it up. I also loved David Hunter and Kelly Agbowu who milked every laugh out of her approximately 8 lines.
Katherine's She Used To Be Mine was lovely. Her tone and vocal purity is quite something. I do much prefer Jessie Mueller's take on it though.
The stalls were pretty empty and I'm a bit worried for its chances at longevity. Shame, as it's a really enjoyable night at the theatre.

Lucie Jones' Insta story sure seems interesting... I wonder what she's rehearsing for?

really queen? saw tons of empty seats online
better to have bums on seats I say, but I guess there is some illogical quota or admin reason

The latest offer is laughable - A free signed programme and ice cream (Band A/B/C). Only available at Mondays performance.

Maybe it's not the best offer anyone ever saw, but it's for performances up until June 9th, not just one single solitary Monday performance.

I would love it if a show I loved had an offer of a signed cast programme.

Are we sure it's a signed programme? Booked using the code and it just says "free programme and ice-cream".

No reason to believe that day seats won't be available this coming bank holiday Monday, is there? (Sorry, boring question I know, but my parents are visiting and I want to take them)

I think the Upper is ‘sold out’ because in reality it is closed and everyone in it has been moved down. That was how it appeared online on Monday but when I went it wasn’t open.

I had an email this morning that I'm almost certain said "free signed programme" I've deleted it though, and I can't remember where it came from, I get so much theatre stuff... I really only remember it due to the mention of ice cream, ice cream always get my attention!🍦 😂

OK... now I feel awkward. Well it would make sense though. When I checked at the start of the week all of the perfornances in the week, including tonight, had the Upper were sold out, so either they are completely sold by chance or they've been closed.

Saw this on Wednesday and had a good time.
The lyrics aren’t as good as they should be, Jack McBrayer is miscast, and it’s in the wrong theatre, but it’s got some wonderful performances (lead by the brilliant Katherine McPhee), some beautiful music and a solid book (mainly because it’s pretty much faithful to Adrienne Shelly’s brilliant screenplay).
The production and the direction are great, especially loved the costume design, and also the aesthetic of the choreography, but felt it could have gone further - sometimes it felt like something and nothing.
Got Row A dayseat for £25. Stalls were a little patchy, with the Dress looking pretty full, but a closed upper circle.

I don’t think anyone will ever come near to topping Chris Fitzgerald as Ogie but I think Jack’s grown into it from when I first saw him in early previews, even if now he is completely milking his big scene for all it is worth, to the point where half the cast were breaking last time I saw the show! 😆
