There's a great interview with Andrew Garfield on last Kermode and Mayo's film review from around 52nd minute. Agree: I listened to this and thought how knowledgeable about the era and committed to the role and film overall Andrew Garfield sounded.

Did anyone else see the Menier production of Tick Tick, Boom, with Neil Patrick Harris? It was years ago now. Also had Cassidy Jansen in one of her very early roles. I remember enjoying it, but thought it was all a bit frantic. It was a great introduction to the score though.

I didn’t quite “get it” as a piece at the time, apart from really enjoying the score, but it has since grown on me massively.

I saw the Sedos production a few years back, and loved it. Unexpectedly, as I can't stand Rent and have been unable to get through any of the three filmed versions.

Yes, though my ticket was in the ‘extended’ bit of run (I think?) so I saw Christian Campbell instead. I really enjoyed it, having loved the original cast album - looking forward to catching the film ASAP…

Andrew Garfield isn't on instagram. Really not too sure how to respond to that. Might not have been him. Did he have the verification tick? If not it will be someone who thinks it’s clever to pose as him

Not sure what I thought of the piece itself....but Andrew Garfield is incredible and surely has to be a contender for the Oscar.
Also have to say Vanessa Hudgens was a stand out in quite a small role.

I watched this tonight and thought it was fantastic. A great job by all involved. It might be a bit "in" for the general public but not for those of us who read this board. It's a film to savor. I loved the show both here and in NYC and they've done a first class job of translating it to film.

Absolutely loved this. Tears at the end and the end screams of joy when noticing the little cameos.
Andrew Gardield I now want to fantasy cast him in everything

This was a movie of two halves for me. I struggled a little to get into the first half - a little manic, a little style-over-substance and confusing in tone with some badly thought out gag comedy standing out awkwardly against the rest of the piece. I also felt I was missing out on some “in” information, and Garfield - whilst brilliant - wasn’t particularly likeable. But then, after “Sunday” it just seemed to all fall into place and I loved it through to the end. I think maybe on a rewatch I’d enjoy the whole thing much more - I just didn’t really know what it was or where it was heading for the first hour or so this time as I’m unfamiliar with the original.
I definitely want to get more acquainted with the score though. There are some wonderful numbers on there which I’d never heard before.

In years to come, would I be shamed if I said that ‘Therapy’ was my favourite song (like all those ‘Master of the House’ lovers?) 😂

So last night before the screening I posted a pic of the poster image on Instagram which was just liked by Andrew Garfield 😱 This made me smile until I remembered that I think he doesn't have Instagram, or any other social media account, I believe... Or have I been living under a rock? :) Glad you liked the film, though. I am really excited to see it because I've really liked Garfield in all his roles so far, he is a really interesting actor. Although I have not actually seen any of the musicals. Yet. EDIT: And then I see a whole thread about him not having Instagram just below the original comment. Just ignore my pointless contribution. :)

I watched this last night. I knew of the original source material, but didn’t know much else about it, and I of course know RENT, which I have enjoyed in the past, but isn’t really a favourite.
I absolutely adored this! Andrew Garfield was fantastic, and I was engrossed for the entirety of the film’s running time. It was at times funny, emotional and deeply moving. For Lin Manuel’s first film, it really is a marvel.
I think I enjoyed this so much because it deals with the backstage workings of writing a musical and trying to get one on, which I have always found fascinating. I enjoyed the TV show SMASH for much the same reasons.
For me, one of the year’s best films. I hope it gets some Oscar love.

I'll add my voice to all the love for Andrew Garfield who was terrific - though honestly the whole cast show and the "Sunday" sequence with all the cameos was fantastic, especially the three stars from Rent.
On the whole I enjoyed the movie as well, just found that it sagged a bit around the middle. Garfield and Miranda definitely deserve some Oscar love for this.

Loved this. Wonder why the off-Broadway cast didn't cameo?
