After Paris Is Burning this all looks a bit glossy but has Ryan Murphy ever let us down?

I enjoyed the pilot alot, despite some dodgy acting and unbelievable plot points. Billy Porter was the highlight, despite playing a character that didn't seem to differ much from what he usually does.
I'm interested in seeing where it goes. Ryan Murphy usually does a great first season and everything else after that is questionable.

If you're not watching this show, you should be. Now on episode 6, i think its some of the best work Ryan Murphy has done. It's one of the most progressive programmes on tv, with such a diverse and talented cast who are killing it every week.
The stories are real and need to be told and heard, especially for a younger audience who weren't around for the destruction that rampaged through the community.
Billy Porter and MJ Rodriguez deserve every award nomination going.

I am thoroughly enjoying the series. It gives so much context to what we are enjoying on Drag Race - whilst also documenting the history of this devastating period. The only weak point for me is the Trump employee and his wife. It feels tacked on. It would be fine to have him as the married guy who falls for his sex worker - but we don't need the domestic or office stuff. Focus on the Houses more.

How are you watching this?.

This was the first week when the role of the wife got some depth to her character. I've read online that the series wouldn't have been made if it didn't have names attached to the show. Kate Mara, Even Peters and James Van Der Beek all have small supporting roles which let the new, diverse range of talent be front and centre. I really hope it gets a season 2

How are you watching this?. Bumping this, how are you all managing to watch it? It's usually not very difficult to find US TV shows online, but it's not something people can post links to!

Well that was a very satisfying final episode to season 1. Probably a bit too neat - but as it was finished before they were certain of season 2, I can see why they made those choices.
The opening montage was heart-breaking. The next section heart-warming.
It really is a class piece of work.

Stunning show, Pray Tell (Billy) singing to his dying boyfriend absolutely finished me emotionally!

Watched this recently and absolutely loved it - such a brilliant cast. Can’t wait for season 2, and their reaction to Madonna releasing Vogue!

Am currently watching this and have one episode left of Season 1. It really is a tremendous show, the music alone is a festival of memories for me. Ryan Murphy can be a bit annoying at times but this is probably the best thing he has done. It has also expanded my knowledge of transgender issues which I was shamefully unschooled on and led me to seek out more information to be better. As mentioned above MJ Rodriguez really shines and deserves some recognition.
Has it come on BBC yet?

I'm afraid I beg to differ. I thought it was terrible and gave up. I just find the over the top behaviour just goes to perpetuate the outdated stereotypes . The first 15 minutes should have drawn you in, but I guess I like my dramas a bit more realistic with some semblance of a story.

AND this is the very first Ryan Murphy show I haven't absolutely loved. The only things I enjoyed were the music, and seeing Evan Peters and James Van Der Beek. I did watch the whole tedious episode in case it suddenly improved.

It only really started to grab me towards the end of the first episode, and then I watched the second one straight after and was pretty well engaged by then. I’ll watch the rest. I can’t take my eyes off Indya Moore who looks absolutely incredible in every scene.

Maybe I should have given it longer and I too usually love Ryan Murphy shows but you can't win em all!

Hmm, I'm not sold based on that first episode - cliched story, questionable acting and 75 minutes felt too long. I'm not going to be endeared to a bunch of characters who choose to desecrate a museum in the first ten minutes. I'll probably give it another episode or two but if I'm not sold by then, I'm out. For people who have seen the whole season, does it get better?

Downloaded it for my long rail journey to Cornwall in a minute. Will give it a go.
