I'm looking at the schedule for the Winter Olympics and I don’t seem to be able to find a tv schedule showing what will be showing when on the telly. I don’t have Eurosport - can I get it? So I’m dependent on the good ole BBC. They tend to edit too much for my liking. But can anyone direct me a timetable for the telly? Ta in advance.

Not sure if Eurosports has the Olympics anyway.

Ok, thanks. I’ll be found in front of the telly and an expert in all things snowy by the end of the week!

Meant to say I will be rooting so much for Elise Christie in the short track speed skating after the terrible luck she suffered in Sochi 4 years ago.

The BBC have just sent a skier with a camera down one of the courses. That was a little vertigo-inducing up close to the screen.

And another gold medal, this time for my personal favorite, Andi Wellinger. I might have cried a bit, too, when he started bawling. Loving these Olympics already.

Who'd have thought that watching people trudging through the snow for an hour could be so exciting? Cross country skiing is great.

Having completely missed the first 3 days of the Olympics due to excessive theatregoing I am now looking at what is being broadcast & I am deeply disappointed. For the last 2 Olympics the BBC had multiple red button channels & showed all the skating in full, each session lasting up to 4 hours. This time there seems to be just one red button channel & skating is getting at most 2 hours of coverage, frequently less. Why is the coverage so much worse at this Olypics than at the last two?

It is rather disappointing compared with the usual coverage. Perhaps the BBC's thinking is that with few chances of British medals there's not much point in going all out. It's not quite as bad as a few years ago when if you were a fan of a sport with no British hopeful in it then in most cases you could forget about your sport even being mentioned, but it's still not as good as I'd hoped.
On the other hand it does make the choice of which channel to watch somewhat easier, given that for most of the day it's a choice of one.

Every time I switch on the telly is it is ice hockey or curling. Where is the ice dancing and the bloomin ski jumping? Saw a bit of ice dancing yesterday but they don’t show it all so how can we judge the up and coming when they only show the champs? V disappointing. I did love the commentator say about the shooting down ice tunnel on tin tray event, that the Brits can never get any further because they don’t have the kit and they are not funded!!! Surely anyone who is allowed to represent the nation who wears the British Lycra, is entitled to funding for the right blades/ wheels whatever. For goodness sake, the money we waste on other stuff ( BBC salaries anyone) and we can’t send our guys out with the best kit?
And where are the Scottish middle aged housewives whom we followed in the early hours when we found out what curling was?? When was that? Did they not train their daughters?

O, excellent the Rona, one of the wonderful Scottish curling team, has appeared in the commentary. No Brit team she says because we finished 8th and Korea went in as auto so we were edged out of qualification. Whaaaat????bonkers.

I thought it was just me who couldn't find anything other than stuff where commentators shout. (That's how I judge which sport I watch - if they yell I turn it off!) I did see some ski jumping lynette and it was awful - they start sitting on a bar, wearing gold teflon and slide down what look like 2 plastic channels. Nothing like how it used to be in the olden days grump grump..... If anyone finds out when the skating is on do tell!

Surely anyone who is allowed to represent the nation who wears the British Lycra, is entitled to funding for the right blades/ wheels whatever. They were talking about funding in depth at one point and someone pointed out that there's a Catch 22 situation here: the funding goes to the sports that are successful in getting medals, so in order for a sport to get funding they first need to find someone so exceptional that they can get to the top on a shoestring, after which they'll start getting money to help promote and develop other talent in the sport. I'm sure the people who allocate the money have their reasons, but it seems strange to me. I'd have thought it would be better to spend the bulk of the money on seeking out sports that would see a substantial benefit from a comparatively modest injection of cash than to pour millions into, say, cycling so we can take home 100% of those medals instead of 90%.
