Apologies for the confusing title, but the new Disney movie Zootopia is known as Zootropolis in Europe - and we Germans had to do it differently and call the movie Zoomania. Anywho, I saw the movie yesterday, and after the rather disappointing The Good Dinosaur, I really enjoyed this. Great characters, a story with a message, and it's funny with many great ideas. The animations looked very good, and I even quite liked the Shakira songs. I did see it it in English, and some of the jokes were lost with the largely German audience, e.g. the network operator of Judy's smartphone PB&J and I got strange looks when I laughed out loud. Anyone else seen it? Surely I can't be the only animation movie fan on here...

I'm looking forward to this. I love the sloth trailer, and especially Judy's exclamation at the end.
Zoomania's a new title on me. (Apparently the reason for releasing it as Zootropolis in Europe is because Givskud Zoo in Denmark has a trademark on Zootopia that covers a variety of classifications including games and clothing, which would overlap with Disney's plans.)

Zoomania's a new title on me. The Good Dinosaur was marketed as Arlo&Spot over here. No idea why they didn't go for Zootropolis and had to choose a different title.

Title changes are common, Marvel's The Avengers was called Avengers Assemble in the UK to avoid confusion with the TV series and Tomorrowland was called Tomorrowland: A World Beyond
Walt Disney Animation Studios has really bounced back in recent years with Frozen, Big Hero 6, Tangled and now Zootropolis whereas Pixar while they scored a major hit with Inside Out also had a flop with The Good Dinosaur.

Oh, this film has been annoying me so much. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't reconcile the various times shown on screen and mentioned in the dialogue. I knew there had to be some way of getting it all to make sense because nobody would write a script in which a deadline was an important plot point and then not bother to get the times right. Searching around the Internet it seems that many other people are running into the same problem.
And then it struck me. Everything works out just fine if you take it that when Chief Bogo gives Judy two days to solve the case he means "tomorrow and the day after" rather than "172800 seconds from this instant", and the "48 hours" is just reinforcement of the idea that there will be no extensions. He's giving her a chance to prove herself, not being an arsehole and setting a stupidly precise deadline just because he can. Give up on the idea that it's exactly 48 hours from that moment and everything else falls into place.
Now if only I could work out how Judy's neighbours' shouting manages to shake a different picture on her wall according to who is making the noise…
