Yes, when ITH won the other musical award it was pretty obvious they'd share them that way. I'd thought, given that Lauper was there, she might get the other one, as it was for her personally. Anyway, eleven out of fifteen guessed correctly, not bad! It was the supporting musical performers that got me, I didn't get either of them.

Hurrah for Drew Mc Onie: well deserved! I think this is my fave result. Well deserved. David Bedella was a surprise nomination and a shock win but there just wasn't much to the field. Seems a little sad that the records will show an Olivier for DB in a meh role(especially compare to his body of work) but no nomination for Sam MacKay who does such an amazing job.

I feel quite please. I wanted In The Heights, kinky Boots and Gypsy to do well and they did and it was all shared out rather nicely. The move to The Royal Albert Hall next year seems a little odd though.

Just in case my previous post gets lost on the previous page.....the 2017 Olivier Awards will be on Sunday 9th April and will move from 2,300 seats at The Royal Opera House to 5,000 seats at The Royal Albert Hall!! Bigger and better?!?!

RAH isn't great though, I think the Coliseum or Palladium would be good for the Oliviers.

Well the least it does is give more people the opportunity to go. It always annoys me only people with Mastercard can go. Fair enough give them priority or cheaper tickets but it annoys me it's limited to them so with double the capacity maybe regular seats will go on sale too. It seems a bit dodgy to move it out of the west end though....and i wonder what will happen to the piazza event?

The Tonys were at Radio City Music Hall and for two years in a row they were at the Beacon Theatre which is a concert venue nowhere near the theatre district so it's not unusual.

I'm enjoying the itv broadcast so far. I think Phantom and In the heights did a better job of selling their shows than Mrs Henderson and Kinky boots.

It would be nice if they used some of that extra capacity on members of nominated companies. A friend of mine is a stage manager on a show that was nominated for several awards, but when they enquired about a ticket were told that he would have to stump up £200 for the privilege.

Overall I am happy with the results! Really happy... Kinky winning three in their most deserved categories made me extremely happy! Supporting Actress was always going to be Lara or Emma so I am pleased for Lara, she did deserve it! I can't complain that two of the best shows of the year (in my opinion: Gypsy and Kinky Boots) were the big winners along with In the Heights. I'm surprised BILB didn't win anything, I thought it had a chance at the Music category of the lot but you win some you lose some
Thrilled for Matt in particular, who thoroughly deserved the Best Actor in a Musical and rocked the stage in the Kinky Boots performance!

Have ITV decided to leave Bend It Like Beckham's performance on the cutting room floor? Ouch!

Can anyone help me: who was the blonde woman singing in that bit with Joe Stilgoe, Sharon D. Clarke Michael Ball and two others who I've forgotten?!
Also who was the Spanish sounding woman in the song at the end?? (I would ask for the full list of performers but don't want you to hate me.)
Kinky Boots performance was an odd choice. They should've had one where both Killian and Matt sang as they were both nominated. Raise You Up was the obvious choice as then Amy who was also nominated would've got to sing too and the costumes are more fun in that. Oh well. (In other news Killian has a surprisingly nice bum. Just an observation.)

The blonde lady was the lovely Leigh Zimmerman (with Michael Feinstein and Daniel Evans).
No Bend It Like Beckham, no Seven Brides, Lara's speech cut - looks like we all need to sit up until 2am to watch ITV3 tomorrow night ....

Clarke, Samantha Spiro, Loran Want, Leanne Jones, Lorna Want, Lesley Mackie. I think there might have been another or other 2, but I haven't seen them.

Thanks guys. It's annoying because they were showing their names on the screen behind but you couldn't always see it.

Another largely predictable year for the Oliviers. Lack of diversity within the nominations was quite glaring and Denise Gough pointed that out perfectly in her speech.
Kinky boots performance was quite meh, didn't really showcase the costumes or the performances of Amy or Killian, which seemed odd.
Very happy for In The Heights' multiple wins, and Drew McOnie's best choreography win was perfect. And their performance was fab. Energetic, a nice showcase of the cast, such a high point.
Emma Williams was fab in the Mrs Henderson Presents number, but that show has been so off-the-radar for most people that perhaps a more upbeat number may have been more effective? Can't think what though, as If Mountains Were Easy To Climb is the best song in the show.
Cyndi Lauper was.... interesting. Last year's Beverley Knight and Kevin Spacey duet was much more memorable in my opinion. The closing number was nice. Katie Brayben must do another musical soon, and Zrinka Cvitesic too!
Loved seeing Jonathan Groff in that little snippet, just because I'm a big fan.

The issue with showcasing the three of them (Matt, Killian and Amy) is unless you do the closing number, you are not gonna be able to showcase all three together unless they do two/three separate songs as Amy only really gets to shine in History of Wrong Guys and the finale.
