At least they (probably) won't be those dreadful steel bowls with two strips of wood screwed to the top. "Quiet, comfortable, hygienic, convenient, welcoming, easy to clean, pleasant to use. Our new design is none of these. We've aimed to make our toilets a worse choice than voiding in your underpants and by God I think we're pretty much there."

I find it's always best to take statements made in planning applications with a pinch of state, but RUT claim that one of the reasons Aladdin is playing at the Prince Edward Theatre is because Disney looked at Drury Lane and decided that, despite the larger seating capacity, the stage house was too decrepit and ancient.

I was reading the Evening Standard on the train last night. It reported that Westminster councillors met on Tuesday night and approved the redevelopment plans for TRDH.
The formal part of the planning process has only taken three months - bish bash boss! As the boundary of Westminster and Camden runs straight down the middle of West Street, Cam Mack must wish the Ambassadors was 20 metres to the west.

Thinking about this recently. I really feel there should be some sort of documenting of this process. Ala Grand Designs, but this could make a 4/6 part series in itself. I can imagine 'behind the scenes' there's bound to be countless dramas and incidents that make some interesting television. It would be an incredible opportunity missed not to capture the before, during and after states.
Alternatively a book like the recently published 'London Theatres' would be amazing.

I wonder if the man in the tabard did a tap routine on the staircase when no-one was looking?
I would have done.

Given the size of the theatre, would think it’d be unlikely any show would go for it unless they cut capacity to do so Home in Manchester did this recently. Its main venue is a proscenium theatre but they built a false stage over the stalls so the first circle became the 'stalls' and built a tiered seating on the stage proper. Whilst the capacity was reduced somewhat it wasn't reduced too badly. With the size of TRDL, being able to bring it down in capacity may actually make it more appealing to some producers.

Stalls seats are now all removed from the venue. Love that she says 'Not a seat left' and you can blatantly see 6 seats in the Royal Box. Alot of the theatres pull out their stalls seating for fit ups and get outs to make it easier for production.

I mentioned it about the Dominion but false walls that can used to reduce the number of seats could be a good workaround.

Holy sea shells. LW Theatres are putting a lot of the furnishings on eBay over the next month. The temptation to buy stuff I don't need and cant afford now is going through the roof. Yes I do need that Louis XV Style Antique Mirror.

No sign yet, but you can buy one of the chandeliers from the foyer, maybe that would fit.

There's a video of it on Facebook (the theatre tour page). I've been meaning to post about it but kept being too lazy, glad someone else did.

Where is it relocating to? Is it coming back? Theres a rumour on here that some of it will be relocated to a relevant museum in Manchester (presumably Museum of Science and Industry). However, after that rumour popped up on here, LW Theatres posted on twitter that a location was still to be found. It sounds like parts of it will just be broken down and not stored, but the oldest parts of interest will be kept in storage for the time being. Really hope some of it lands in MOSI.
