I wonder if they will do anything special today to honour Simon's knighthood Fellow actors and crew will take great delight in calling him Sir Simon and throwing their jackets on the floor for him to walk on!

As a recommendation to watch this production, a clip on the BBC’s This week in Parliament showed one Peer, Baroness Flather suggesting other members of the House of Lords should go and watch it. High praise indeed.

I was there as well. Did you catch the group berating staff in the foyer becasue they'd turned up expecting to see the play (for £7) .. honestly! Sam Mendes got praise heaped high by all concerned. They were giving away tickets on certain audience sites so wondering if the group came from there

On at the cinema next week.
I don’t see that many plays. Should I see this?

On at the cinema next week. I don’t see that many plays. Should I see this? It is long, a bit repetitive but beautifully acted and presented. Take a decent supply of goodies and a flask of something nice.

I imagine the three leads want to have a break before doing a longer Broadway run.

I can't really believe that they are not replaceable.

One of them is being replaced at the end of next week. Ben Miles's final performance in the show in London is August 3rd. He's being replaced by Dominik Tiefenthaler.

The screening tonight was extraordinary - the vocal dexterity and stamina is beyond comprehension, and gloriously informative and inventive. Truly theatre at its' best. and gorgeous to look at with that monochrome.

I came on this board to write something but I feel that Crabtree summed it up perfectly.
As I set off on a blisteringly hot evening to watch the screening (thankfully the local arts centre was air-conditioned), I thought "This had better be worth the effort." When I returned home, I thought: "It certainly was."

Totally agree! When I saw it at the Piccadilly 2 weeks ago I sat at the back of the Upper Circle. It was great to see their performances in close up.
Examples: SRB as Philip struggling to remember the list of cities, AG's astonishing twisting-to-death in Pt 3 (the whole-body movements were clear enough from the UC, but the distorted movements of his hands and face looked frightening in closer view!)

This is defiantly transferring to Broadway.
It will be a tough battle for Best Play up against The Inheritance..

Saw this last night on an NT Live Encore screening at my local cinema. I really enjoyed it - it gave me a lot to chew on, and I'm still thinking about that last scene 24 hours later.

Wasn’t this announced for the Gillian Lynne after the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe?
I thought this was great watching the NT Live broadcast, so might consider seeing it on stage.
