The first contemporary Italian play done at the National since when? De Filippo, maybe?

Thank you for the link, bordeaux. It looks like fascinating theatre to come.
In their respective days, Serious Money, then The Power of Yes, and Enron in London, packed them in. Plays about financial skullduggery do seem to make a splash.

Well there you go, foreign stuff, and looks like good stuff at the NT. Wot I said. Should I get my Italian phrase book out and brush up?

The Guardian article includes the ominous (imo) line "almost no dialogue" - well, I have been warned!

There is some excellent video that gives an impression of the project. It could be fantastic. www.franceculture.fr/emissions/ping-pong/arnaud-meunier-xavier-dorison (the French original production - you'll need to scroll down to find the video) (the trailer for the Milan production) (excerpts from the Cologne/Dresden coproduction) I notice that a glowing comment from Sam Mendes is emblazoned across the Italian text of the play which means he must have seen an earlier production, perhaps the French.

I think I thought that as this is going to be nearly 4 hours and covers the stories across many generations and would have a large cast telling an epic story and that the announcement of the 3 leads would soon be followed an announcement of the rest of the cast. But no. It’s just a three hander. With little dialogue. Hmmm

A 3 hander? I was expecting a massive cast!

3 cast? Is this a new definition of “trilogy”?

They definitely had more than three cast members when they did it originally in Italy. www.piccoloteatro.org/en/2016-2017/lehman-trilogy Maybe they're starting rehearsals for the main three now (even with a supporting cast, there's still probably loads for them to do) and will announce and bring in the rest in a week or two? Even though it's an English adaptation of the Italian original, I'd find it hard to believe they'd have SUCH a long play with a cast of only three.

According to an NT tweet
But I suppose they could just be confirming there are no more Lehmans. They'll need understudies, surely?
