And you come across as if you are deliberately choosing not to understand the difference between fact and opinion, and that there is no such thing as better taste. Also how expensive is Disneyland that it was a college course OR Disney Back then was just before the Pressler era when Disneyland ticket prices spiralled out of all control. So, my guess is that the financial transaction didn't end well. Again this is a wonderful intersection of two of your interests isn't it? (by interests I don't just mean 'ogling Julia Roberts') And on other notes; Vivian is more kick ass than many a romcom wet blanket heroine. And on another: taste is subjective and that's a fact (if we're doing ridiculous deliberate twisting of words to make a point). |

Samantha has got the Roberts-esque coat hanger-in-gob smile down to a tee if the clips are anything to go by. Her cheeks must be killing her. But given the faithful replication of all the other costumes, why change the polka dot dress from brown to blue?

I think it will come to the West End and be a huge hit. It's playing to 100% capacity at the Nederlander Theatre and setting house box office records. It's one of those shows, like Wicked and Mama Mia, where the critics are irrelevant.

It's a new musical that is appearing during a not so busy season. It's also summer, and there are a lot tourists. It will sell well for the next six months and even do well during the holidays and Christmas. But January to March will be brutal when the tourists disappear. It requires New Yorkers to want to see it, and New Yorkers have a lot more options, and their New York Times told them not to. It'll make some cash now and then close shop and make a lot more cash on tour. It's a bad show, but not a bad enterprise.

My crystal ball looks rosier than yours. No show survives on the Manhattan crowd with all their "options". As well as tourists - and the tourists never "disappear" from New York - this one seems to be attracting the suburbanites, the so-called bridge and tunnel folks - note the success of A Bronx Tale to see what that means at the box office - and, especially, it's strongly attracting a young-ish female audience, which means everything. Bad Show? I haven't seen it. But audiences are clearly responding to it.

Bloody hell. I was so prepared to hate Pretty Woman for so many reasons - the stupid premise to begin with, the lame decision to slap another popular movie onto the stage with little inspiration or creativity and everything I heard about the Broadway production.
But having listened to the cast recording now... well, consider me sold. I'm enjoying it a lot, with some very typical Bryan Adams soft rock tunes. Which I like. Shoot me. I'm a child of the 80s and I had "Everything I do" on a loop back then. Much prefer this to what @sharpe12 called the "teenage angst American soft pop" of recent shows that are just noise to my ears.
Dang it, I might actually go and see this now when I'm in NY next spring. Because Andy Karl. Nuff Said.

Listened to the cast album and really enjoyed it it’s nothhing ground breaking but I can see this lasting well into 2020 at least with a west end production in late 2020 if they want to bring it in. This is the last musical I’ve booked to see on my January/feb trip next year and I’m actually looking forward to this. Btw how discounted will most shows be as I’m looking at seeing mean girls and King Kong as well and Cher and more as well thanks guys 😊😊😊

Am I the only one stunned by this shows success?! I didn't think this would be as successful as it has proven, seeing as some shows really don't take off, but bar the first week when there was only a couple of performances it has consistently grossed well over a million each week, and considering the negative reviews, it's kinda amazing and I'm so as it's doing well!

Well, people are paying for the name of it and the memories of the film more than anything. Who cares about the music when you can watch someone pretending to be Julia Roberts pretending to be a prostitute that’s pretending not to love a millionaire that’s pretending not to love her back? In some ways it’s the 90s version of 50 Shades to whole group of folk.
