a shame they are not using the royal Exchange's brilliant reinvention of Audrey. Crikey, she raced round the stage and auditorium

Audrey at the exchange had the puppeteers on the outside, operating a hydra like head with a long versatile neck. She was planted in a trough that was wheeled around the stage, and rather than swallowing the bodies, leafy flaps in the trough opened and the head nudged the bodies in. But that head ducked and dived and soared over the audience. A bit like Ray Harryhausen's hydra in Jason and the Argonauts - a conscious reference apparently.

I am tempted, especially with Sam Lupton in the lead! Why would that tempt you? Just curious.

Saw this on Tuesday. it's fun. The 3 girls were wonderful, as was Sam Lupton.
Show stealing perfromance from Rhydian who is clearly having a blast as Orin.
Puppet, set and costumes all a bit disappointing, also such a shame they've gone for a 3 piece band....all sounds very small.
Still an enjoyable evening at the theatre.

A very intelligent and articulate interview from Rhydian Roberts here. Getting great reviews so I'm really looking forward to seeing it in Belfast.

Saw this today. I didn't have a clue what it was about (I lead a sheltered life!) and found it totally bonkers. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it, loved the music and thought the cast, especially Sam Lupton and Rhydian, excellent.
I know it was "funny" horror, but I was a bit surprised at the number of young children there - I mean, being fed to and eaten by a plant would have been the stuff of nightmares when I was that age.

Saw this last night. Lots of fun.
I just rocked up and purchased a ticket at the door.
Although I live in London, I am nowhere near Wimbledon, but the journey was worth is. A small but generally hardworking cast.
I have been to this theatre several times previously however what notice last night was the amount of people taking pics of the set before the show started without the ushers saying anything. Is this acceptable because it's 'off West-End"?
I truly love this show. Ever since I was 17, sitting in a darkened cinema in Sydney I just loved it. Bought the LP and video. Then the soundtrack on CD and then on DVD. Even met Ellen Greene once (I have a photo) who signed my DVD cover. An image of Audrey II singing at a seated Seymour was my screensaver at wrk and an image of Rock Moranes as Seymour holding the plant os the current screensaver on my phone- honesty!
But I digress.I was great to see Audrey II growing and its designs. As clever as it was (and it really was) at times, I could help thinking :it looks like a great big green fish". Also the way it ate people.
I apologis in advance that I don't know the names of the actors but for me the weakest link was the guy playing Mr. Mushnik. Vocally nothing special and he just looked scruffy with the hair and beard.
The guy playing Seymour has excellent vocals and despite the costume (in my opinion) wasn't geeky enough.
The girl playing Audrey was excellent. Apart from the whole 'look' I remember thinking, as much of a fan as I am of Ellen Greene in the role, in her singing I actually heard words in the lyrics last night that I had never picked up on in the film.
And Rhydian was certainly working as the sadistic Dentist and as they should be, the audience were lapping it up.
And the three doo-wapp girls- Rodents, Chiffon and Crystal- were excellent and just seemed to get better- vocally and acting wise- as the show progressed.
The set has a certain cartoon aspect capturing the Skid Row feel.
Because it was a warm evening, the queue for the ice-cream at intermission was, literally, our the door.
From where I was in the stalls, it was pretty full, though the seat next to me was empty.
There was a pretty unanimous standing ovation last night as the cast danced out to a combination of Don't Feed The Plants and Mean Green Mother from Outta Space.
Finally, leaving the theatre hearing people, younger and obviously familiar with the film saying "I don't remember the (Audrey and Seymour) being eaten in the end.

Even West End noe, alot of my experiences, not many theatres care anymore about taking photos before the show. Wicked always has people taking photos, The Bodyguard doesn't seem to care either. Only a few shows I have seen care about pictures being taken before the show, even if it is blatantly obvious!

Like I tried to get one when I saw King Charles III but was told to put my phone away.

Well at Wimbledon I saw Annie and there is no front cloth there but I got a photo. However, I think they might've stopped people once the children came and got in their beds but I was seated fairly early.
I don't think they mind when there's a cloth covering the stage

When I saw Groundhog Day yesterday someone next to me was told off for taking a photo of the front TV screens - even though no one told me off for doing so a few minutes before! And looking through Twitter and Instagram I'm clearly not the one who has.
Unless the pre-show set is revealing something big that spoils the whole show, then I don't really think people should be told off for taking pictures. I'm sure directors and designers know by now that many people will be taking photos of the pre-show set and spreading it over social media, so they should consider a front cloth or even just use the house curtain if they're not happy with it.

How do people rate the chances of more dates being added? Really want to see this, but it's not currently going anywhere that's easy for me to get to...
