Someone has to do a play about her
She is not mocked because she is black
Or a female
It's because she is an idiot

All we know is that she is not well. Perhaps we need to know the "idiots" diagnosis before a play is written

All we know is that she is not well. Perhaps we need to know the "idiots" diagnosis before a play is written She has been an idiot for the last decade Unless she has been ill all that time No excuse The woman has no redeeming features We can all become ill when we want to When the going gets tough No place in politics for her

All we know is that she is not well. Perhaps we need to know the "idiots" diagnosis before a play is written No. All we know is the Labour Party has told us she is not well - that doesn't mean she is (she was out campaigning today apparently). The suggestion is she has diabetes, as does May, so both sides are disinclined to make much capital out of it.

I think there are a lot about of people who would be balking at the prospect of her as Home Secretary to the point where it might be a deal breaker on Thursday. Removing her from the equation isn't going to turn anyone off from voting labour but it might turn some people on.
I have absolutely no doubt that she has diabetes but I don't believe for one moment that this is the reason for her being pulled. If that makes me a bad person, so be it.

Both May and Abbott have seemed very much out of sorts and the diabetic issue explains a lot.
Personally I have suspicions over the health of anyone who ranges over a number of threads attacking other people.

Looks like a convenient tactical withdrawal due to illness. I feel for her as a person if she's struggling but she's done the labour campaign no favours

Well if she has diabetes, I'm very sorry. I hope she can continue to lead a full political life ( if only to entertain the rest of us) Can we shut up that Mason guy now who resorted to attacking May on that basis. I do feel there is still a mysogonistic smell hanging around in our politics.
Don't forget to vote. 😳

I was one of those people who had "reservations" about her as home secretary. But I weighed it against my "reservations" about Daisy May, Hunt, Johnson and Gove. Diane Abbott is clearly out of her depth whether through illness, I know not, if it is illness, it's taken a long time to diagnose.

My problem with Abbott is the fact that she criticised Blair and Harman for their choice of schools for their children and then sent her own son to a private school and justified it by saying 'West Indian mums will go to the wall for their children' and that her white Labour colleagues would 'never understand' the Afro-Caribbean culture of parents wanting to do the best for their children.
This struck me as being both hypocritical and racist.

Wish her well in recovering.
During one of the Blair elections, Matthew Parris wrote an article about trying to get hold of her for a comment. She was clearly avoiding him. His conclusion was something like Alastair Campbell had locked her up for the duration.
It says a lot about Corbyn that he has no other MP’s to put into important positions in the Shadow Cabinet. But they’ve always been loyal to each other. AS a backbencher, she was entertaining and thankfully not my MP.
The prospect of her as Home Secretary is about as reassuring as the promise of Boris being the next to hold the top job.
Where oh where are the competent Politicians? Being an optimist I like to think there are still a few in Parliament, but because they don’t do soundbites, we’ll never hear of them.

Sadly, the way out political culture is and political news coverage works, competence is completely invisible. The only interest comes when people make mistakes - something going completely smoothly and successfully, with no problems, just isn't exciting. Diane Abbott is not the only politician to suffer from this - though I will say she has suffered from it. The woman is clearly not an idiot if you actually examine her career in detail, but people think she is.

This struck me as being both hypocritical and racist. You're overlooking the fact that, at that time, the state school system was failing children of Afro-Caribbean heritage. So, those colleagues' children would have fared significantly better than her children if they'd attended the same school, all other factors being equal. It was more a clash of principles in the real world than hypocrisy. Race was the clinching factor in the problem, to which she had to react.

Born to working class Jamaican parents, earned a place at Cambridge in the '70s (for contrast, of 3,449 students accepted into Cambridge during the 2015/2016 academic year, only 38 defined themselves as black. Forty years on), worked constantly in politics since 1982, won The Spectator magazine's "Parliamentary Speech of the Year" award in 2008, and everything she has done has been under the double-microscope of being black and being a woman. Maybe she doesn't have the most impressive political record, and she certainly doesn't TV-interview well, but she can out-think any of us morons any day of the week.

Well if we're all morons, that still leaves plenty of room for her to be smarter than us and stil be ....an idiott! I can't work out if you're doing a *thing* by the way; is it on purpose that you're calling someone an idiot while being consistently unable to spell the word? It's not translating well if it is.
