I’m gutted. Have been wanting to see Olivia’s Veronica since the start of the TOP run and was at the matinee today. Having seen the show too many times, I could tell that Carrie wasn’t giving it 100% but I didn’t think she seemed unwell enough to not be able to do the evening show. Obviously I was wrong and I am kicking myself for not sticking around in town.

The twitter comments are certainly interesting.
I am sure Carrie appreciates fans "fighting her corner" but don't get why they have to copy her and the poor understudy into the thousands of tweets when they do so.

I’m at the show tonight and really excited to see a new take on Veronica!

She liked a couple of my tweets too 😀 saw the show this aft and I thought she was fab! Could tell she was saving her voice in the ensemble bits but her solo singing was note perfect. If she can do that poorly fair play to the girl! Loved it! 👏👏👏

Olivia Moore is debuting as Veronica tonight. Would have bloody loved to have seen Olivia as Veronica! Looking forward to seeing reports. On another note, I feel a bit guilty as she is likely to receive a lot of backlash for just doing her job!

Good luck to Olivia I'm sure she will be great and wish I could see it. Well at least MusicalMarge will be happy with this casting now.

I won't link photos or tweets, but photos of Olivia on stage during the show are popping up on twitter. She looks great!

I’ve got tickets for this on Friday! Hope Ms Fletcher is recovered by then but if not, sounds like Olivia is killing it so I’ll get a great show either way!

Olivia looking like hell on wheels! Her jacket and socks are a darker blue than Carrie’s, looks a lot more like Barrett Wilbert Weed’s costume. Maybe a lighter blue looked better on Carrie with her blondeish hair?

I saw yesterdays matinee, went on the website about 1:15 and got dress circle F212 for £25, perhaps last minute dynamic pricing?! It was listed as Special Online Price or something but very happy to have a great seat at an amazing price!
While I wasn't very impressed with Carrie's Veronica, I felt it was a little... empty, for me there wasn't any emotion or purpose to what she was saying, I will give absolute props to her for singing that score if she was unwell enough to call out for the evening. Note perfect, just a shame the acting wasn't quite up to par with it for me. I would have preferred her to be a little more dead-pan in her comedic moments, Veronica is a brooding goth-esque "edgy" girl and I would have liked to see that more than musical comedy comedics but thats just me!
Ive known of the show since its off-broadway and have followed here on and off its changes up until this iteration of it and theres something about the show that still feels 80% there for me. I think that came down to some of the performances where my opinions don't quite match whats been said here but its always interesting to see different opinions!
This could be blasphemous but I really was not impressed with Jodie Steele, I wouldn't have minded her looking a little out of place in comparison to her other Heathers age wise but for me she only landed about 25% of hr comedy lines and was playing it way to broad. For me Heather Chandler has her power because of her subtlety, she knows exactly what she's doing, how quick and witty and evil she is, she doesn't need to scream it from the rafters. (wether this was direction or her interpretation I don't know!)
Heather Duke's new song is fun, I wish they'd really gone in on the she's so quiet no voice thing right up until her song, her arc seemed disjointed. I totally see the comparisons of Kristin Chenoweth and Heather Mc. !!! I actually really enjoyed her and thought she was the best Heather, for me she seemed to Get what her character was in this satire.
J.D was really really really good and I would be happy to see him get some nominations come awards time. Veronica's new act 2 song feels super shoe horned in and far to Disney-triumph-i-will-defeat-evil. Shine a Light was super fun and I liked her adlibbing (im assuming) while she was talking to Steve.

If your friends dismiss someone's suitability for a role on the grounds that they are "fat", I don't need to know anything more about them. I hope this helps! What's wrong with scrabble playing, collecting stamps and eating pizza, by the way? That’s not an argument, it’s a snap judgement based on disagreeing with your personal view. If your life is so intolerant then perhaps it’s why you find solace here (or playing scrabble) Wow, objecting to someone dismissing a fellow human being as "too fat" is 'disagreeing with a personal view'? There was me thinking that treating people with respect and allowing them their dignity should be a given, how naive of me! Amazing to me that you apparently have no issue with derisory and derogatory comments about someone's personal appearance, yet are so defensive and sensitive about use of language being called out.

Maybe they meant 'phat'? Like the kids say.
I'm so down with the clique.

It really bugs me there are some that consider Carrie "fat". Without meaning to get deep, comments like that is a way into things like eating disorders, it is ridiculous and unfair.

I have personally experienced, and witnessed, the devastating effect such comments have on people and am never in any mood to tolerate it, or anyone who attempts to defend it.

Shall we make that the last word on it then, and get back to discussing the show? Because whilst well intentioned, some of these posts are just recycling the subject of weight whilst at the same time saying we shouldn’t be discussing it. Everyone has had the chance to give an opinion, let’s move on please.

That way we can focus on the important things like just how dreadful that jumpsuit is and how natty those shoes on the chap behind her are. First world problems people.

Didn't mean to start the debate again. Just saw that pic and thought it needed to be said and it was the best way to finish the whole thing.
Anyway, 3 weeks left till I finally see this. Should I watch the movie again in preparation or it's not necessary at all? It's been a while!

Definitely don't watch the movie again in preparation, just watch the show as its own beast. The film will still be there after the show's been and gone.

What time does this kick out on a matinee these days, given the added songs etc?
