Oh I'll be at McKellen's R3 as well. Wonder if they released more central block tickets, I was online at 11.30 and there was nothing in central block at all, got near the front on an aisle though.

I am at the very back of the central block save Sir Ian from my wandering hands!

I'll be at both Sir Ian events as well. For the interview back of the central block, bit further forward for the RIII.

Not to be pedantic but shouldn't the thread be called Shakespere 452?

I posted earlier in the thread about this (I've been to one of their concerts before and it was very good), but it seems Tobias Menzies is now involved too: www.thefourthchoir.com/

Announced tonight that the Tim Roth Q&A will be by Skype, I think I'll probably give it a miss, it would cost me £6 (and an hour there and back by train) to take the ticket back tomorrow - why they wait until 48 hours before something to tell you someone isn't going to be there is just taking the piss to be honest.

I'd give them a call and ask nicely for a credit despite you having the ticket. They once resold a ticket for me when a friend couldn't turn up for an event, despite the fact the friend had the ticket with them.

They are refunding rather than offering credit if you are cancelling because of lack of Roth (He was clearly promised in the brochure as making an actual appearance and they've known for weeks he would probably be via Skype) so definitely give them a call. I just got my £9.15 back.

Cheers, the email they sent made no mention of a refund so I thought it was basically like it or lump it - I've just phoned and got a refund. I'm guessing Tim Roth is more bothered about his US career rather than Q&As and the like in the UK so I'm not expecting him to do something similar anytime soon (though to tell the truth he hasn't really done much of note apart from The Hateful Eight recently, I hope whatever he has decided to film is worth the effort)

I would pay to see this! To be fair to Tim he is filming in Glasgow filming 10 Rillington Place with Samantha Morton (I am not stalking him, I swear!), I suspect he thought he could be in London for a few days but the filming schedule sounds quite intense so I suspect this is about as much as he could do.

So - did anyone else go to Richard III last night (either at the BFI, or at one of the cinemas screening it around the country), or for that matter, Shakespeare On Stage a couple of weeks back?
Have to say I enjoyed the Q&A more than the film, which I was bit disappointed in - I'm not that bothered that it was a cut down version of he play (don't think anyone would want to sit through the full unexpurgated version) but the whole thing just felt a little bit... slight (by the third or fourth time McKellen basically winks at the camera to show you what a naughty sort Richard is, it had lost its charm), there were too many nods to contemporary films shoe-horned in for my liking(Jurassic Park and Star Wars at the beginning, and Alien 3 at the end), and the action scenes at the end reminded just how crap British action films shot on a budget can be. Maybe it's the waiting 20 years to see this had built it up in my mind to be something it could never be, but I'm glad I've seen it now.
Don't know if the cinema screenings caught any of the audience in the Q&A after, I was sat on the end of the second row in the centre block, trying to put on my happy face every time I saw the cameraman pointing the camera in my direction and hoping I didn't look TOO rough.
Has anyone downloaded McKellen's Shakespeare app, which he mentioned last night, and also at the Shakespeare On Screen event a few weeks back - if so, is it aimed more at iPads than iPhones? He mentioned last night that they are aiming at having every single Shakespeare play on the app at some point, I'm assuming they'll be charging for each one (don't know if it's free to download The Tempest)

I was there and like you was a bit disappointed with the film - interested that McKellen thought an extra 10 minutes would have been worthwhile - I felt the setup was too rushed (oh look, there's that American actor, who is he linked to, oh he's dead). Nice to see the inventive use of London locations though.
Thought the Q&A was fine but the gentlemen might have been a little "refreshed" (have to be careful what I say!) I'm not sure Francine Stock got a lot of value our of the discussion. They obviously had a ball though.
The Tempest app is £4.49. Not a big fan of the Tempest so might wait for another to come along (although, of course, if they don't flog enough of these, there won't be another...)
A decent night but not as enjoyable as I'd hoped.

I find Cunk the only part of Brooker's shows that I can't stomach so no, I'm passing on this one.

It did make me snort at times and she was right, I like the proximity and the cheapness but would somehow like not to be standing up.

A friend just recommended Cunk On Shakespeare to me and I loved it. We were big fans of Ben Crystal when studying out A level English Language (only a little bit ironically) so thought his section was excellent. And it was a great way to procrastinate studying for my Shakespeare exam on tuesday, while telling myself that I was still kind of doing work!
