I love your optimism, but of course Apple has made that impossible by switching to USB-C chargers in the meantime. I remember the days when every device came with its own power supply that was quite deliberately different from every other power supply, so you ended up with drawer after drawer filled with assorted power supplies and you forgot which one went with which device and you never dared throw any of them out in case it was for something you had in some other drawer and you might some day get around to pairing them up. Then everyone switched over to mini- and micro-USB and life was wonderful. And then Apple.

First this was wrongly attributed to Canada, then to Alaska, but I can exclusively reveal this is actually rare footage of BurlyBeaR walking in the Peak District. It's amazing how restorative it can be to spend a few hours away from the shadow casting skyscrapers of MCR. 🙂 Does my bum look big in that?

Then everyone switched over to mini- and micro-USB and life was wonderful. And then Apple. Oh, yes, I remember those days too! I actually had a talk about this today with my brother in law who asked if we could find his old camera he gifted me once, but would now like to have back to 'play' with. Along with all the stuff I did not bring with me to London, it should be somewhere at my parents' place, and the camera itself should not be a problem to find (it looks like a camera and has SONY written on it, easy!). However, I remember it had this odd charging cable with a sort of a 'docking station', and for the life of me I have no idea where that is. Probably - hopefully - somewhere in a bag with other equally 'nameless' cables which have piled up over the years, that haven't actually served a purpose for a decade, but nobody has also bothered to throw them out... As you say, it was going so well in the last few years. And then - Apple...

Open House tour of Shaftesbury Theatre this morning. They've huge plans to expand to the side (into the pavement and road) Um, so what's going to happen to what, if I recall correctly, is a fairly large road then?

Open House tour of Shaftesbury Theatre this morning. They've huge plans to expand to the side (into the pavement and road) for extended bar and piazza, improved disabled access and more ladies loos ... The tour was absolutely great, about an hour long, 11 of us on the 11.30 tour, at social distance - through the auditorium, up to the stage, down to the orchestra "pit" (they've a corner at the back of the stage with the percussion in a separate box ...), up up up to dressing rooms, costume and wig department, up on to the roof (!), down to the complex rigging and down to the Grand Circle. So glad I got a ticket, so glad I decided to go (with the increase in Covid cases - I drove in rather than tube, ££ on parking and ££ on congestion charge). What's on the roof? Are the views across London good?

The view from the roof - office blocks opposite and the geranium covered entrances to flats next door. The roof opens up - for large items of scenery and plant etc to be craned in. Told by the tour leader, James Williams (Chief Executive - been there 14 years) that on pleasant days they open up the roof for cast and staff to enjoy sunny days. More here - www.shaftesburytheatre.com/about-us/about-the-theatre/ in one of the pictures you can see the big orange/brass things on the roof, I was standing literally next to those. What are they? www.shaftesburytheatre.com/news/winner-camden-design-awards-2017/ "steel flytower extension". There's major works already in progress at stalls entry level. They've taken out a staircase to accommodate more loos at dress circle. They are installing a lift for access to higher floors right by (what was) the main (corner) entrance. There is already part road closure to the side (Shaftesbury Avenue, not High Holborn) - they've knocked part of the wall to that side down at lower stalls level with more to go. More here - www.camdencitizen.co.uk/2018/09/25/facelift-shaftesbury-theatre-refurbishment-plans-approved/ ... but that doesn't quite show what we on the tour were told, re the Piazza - tables and chairs etc literally where the road is. The "artists rendering" shows an idea of it, I think. James Williams did say they'd be doing more tours - maybe a Board outing if anyone wants to organise? He was extremely knowledgeable, obviously cares deeply for the building (he'd worked on the building of Hampstead Theatre before coming to the Shaftesbury). On occasions leaves his desk to enjoy a weekday matinee from the Grand Circle. Said they'd be opening in March 2021. Admit to a blurry eye seeing the seats covered in dustsheets.

YouTube turned up a recommendation: "Secretly Turning People's Windows Into Giant Spiders". Wow, that sounds ... oh, it's speakers. It's giant speakers. Never mind.

Thank you so much, Someone in a tree, for posting those. I had a miserable night's sleep, on top of everything else, so they are just what the doctor ordered. I'm well jel, as the young people say. What a beauty...and Brid doesn't look too bad either! When it's like that, or even when it isn't, there isn't anywhere that makes me happier. 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Being given the runaround. My 60+ oyster card expired on Sunday & I haven't received a freedom pass yet. No one seems to answer emails & when they do they pass the buck. Just spent 15 minutes on the phone to TFL trying to find out if they have passed all the documentation on to the freedom pass people. Got nowhere. The young man said I should have applied a year ago. I pointed out that isn't what is says on the website for freedom cards or on theirs about 60+ oysters. God knows how much the phone call has cost. Looks as if I'll have to start all over again at the begining. Really fed up. Can't go anywhere.

I've never used TFL just go online to the council office and get them to do necessary - could your local authority help? Just a thought 😃

They only issue disabled person freedom passes. Thanks for trying to help .

My dad has been able to get a 60+ card for nearly 5 years now but was never able to do it because its online and my dad doesn't do any online business and you need to pay online. I couldn't because I don't have a debit card. God knows if he even has the right ID for a 65+ one because they said that was a form he could fill out but he doesn't have a passport or drive.

Dose anyone know what you would call those little things that some masks come with on the elastic so you can shorten or lengthen them? They slide on so you can make the adjustment. Got a new mask, good mask but elastic is hugely long, have tried knotting it but so very comfy so thought I could look for some of these things if I had any idea what they were called.
Felt could not hoover up the endless tiny spiders in my room, I'm going to regret that aren't I.

Thanks @the_matthew now I just need to work out what i'd do with the other 98 as I guess unsurprisingly they come in rather large quantities. Maybe i should try your tape idea first!

A great day. I’ve been seeing reports of an otter down in the harbour over the last week, so after dropping off my car for its MOT we went down hoping to catch a glimpse. No sign of it unfortunately so went for a bit of a walk along the riverbank then returned to the harbour - and there it was, hunting up and down the seaweed banks, in and out of the water and generally being magical. The first time we’ve seen an otter in the wild. 🥰 🦦
Oh, and the car failed...
