it’s easy to bring the booty back home and pop my sausage roll between two slices of bread and butter like all normal people do. This is a level of depravity I have never encountered before. I must try it.

Can someone please go to Greggs for BB. It's an emergency!!!
I think it's in Wigan where a meat pie is considered to be an acceptable filling for a breadcake. It won't come as a surprise to many, but I'm clearly not normal as I've never heard of something similar being done with a sausage roll!
Describe it as 'artisanal' and you'll be able to flog them at £5 a pop on Piccadilly Gardens. 🤣

The only acceptable way to eat a sausage roll as far as I'm concerned is to smother it in ketchup.
I am aware this post may get me banned from the board.

It amazes me that a bunch of theatrelovers ever go anywhere near meat pies or sausage rolls. Hasn't seeing Sweeney Todd put everyone off for life?! I walked out of a school production after about 2 minutes when I was 11 & have never touched a non-home-made meat pie since!

Don't worry, Dawnstar. I've no interest in Sondheim, and Burly has the constitution of a...bear. He doesn't like to growl about it, but it's the only good thing to come out of his time at Bell Vue Zoo in the 1970s. Some of the stuff the keepers used to feed him would make anyone mad! 😉

I think it's in Wigan where a meat pie is considered to be an acceptable filling for a breadcake. That's 100% true TallPaul. The Gregg's vegan sausage roll isn't too bad. Though I'll stick with the traditional sausage roll with HP sauce which is my preferred combination.

I went shopping this morning and wandered down by the river to wait for the store to open, and was approached by some optimistic ducks who rapidly became disappointed ducks. On an intellectual level I know that ducks aren't the smartest of birds, but I swear one of them gave me a look as if to say "I haven't run over here in a futile attempt to get fed. I came over here because I wanted to have a look at ... erm ... that stone."

A day of two halves, 3 hours on the bike in the morning and the completely bonkers Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga film in the afternoon.
Not the greatest film of all time but one of those that creeps up on you and end up liking much more than it deserves in the same way the Eurovision Song Contest does year after year.
Just seen that the soundtrack is available to stream, Jaja Ding Dong whenever you want it!

Helped that I'm a Eurovision fan. A couple of big errors but who cares. Just what I needed to cheer me up.

Why was he in surgery? Sending love to Alfie to feel 100% like himself soon.

He had a big cancerous lump on his ear that was the size of a walnut. He is now very fine. One of the many things I love about dogs is if you don't know or analyse things then everything is dandy

I went to do the washing this morning. I opened up a new box of detergent pods and one of the pods had burst and set off a chain reaction that caused half the others to fall apart as well. I'm not entirely sure how: they dissolve in water but they obviously can't dissolve in their own contents or they'd never make it out of the factory.
I managed to save half of them. They're a bit gloopy, because it's not as if I can wash them.

My 'waterproof' coat is not so waterproof it appears, or perhaps it's 'shower proof' and showers are meant to last for less time.

OH is somehow "too busy" with garden work to attend our usual Wed quiz but had time to tell his mum to contact me for any help she needs connecting to Zoom. I love her dearly, but don't have much patience with my own IT, let alone trying to help with something I can't see!

Really grumpy work day, just people seemingly refusing to do their jobs, a lot of I have identified this issue but now will do nothing towards solving it even thought it's rapidly growing my the minute. Had a whole session on training yesterday on improving active listening, well no one appeared to be applying it today.

ruby, I can completely understand why that would be a little frustrating: I love my mum dearly, she is the absolute best, and the only time we usually argue is when she expects me to provide IT support remotely (she lives in another state) and refuses to acknowledge that when I say that I have no idea why something doesn't work, I really really don't; it's not that I don't want to help, I just don't really have a clue why her Skype/Internet/Telegram... is having trouble operating. Luckily, she'll then usually give up and call my ex, who is a) actually an IT guy and b) has nerves of steel and much more patience than me - which is something she should have done in the first place. :) There really is no other way to go about these things, except to try and take them with a touch of humour and a lot of patience. My day has been fine. After a disastrous start to the week for work reasons outside my control, it seems like things are actually sort of coming together. Fingers crossed they are, at least. But I heard from an ex colleague from back home whom I love dearly, which was such a mood brightener, and I treated myself a little (to a new dress) as reward for something I've done over the weekend. So I guess it all kind of balances out.

The airline I work for has started to layoff 30% of it's management and support staff today and they will be doing it in waves until July 15th so, it's going to be a real stressful two weeks for me.

Surely it can't be the 40th anniversary of the release of Airplane?

It is my last day of getting up at 3 a.m. US time for a conference call with a London client. Hoping my body clock will soon reset and let me get back to a regular sleep regimen.

Well, I've run the iron over my best slacks and, on what would have been my gran's 105th birthday, I'm now halfway through my first pint of real ale since mid-March. 🍺 I can't begin to describe how good it tastes.
The haircut, however, will have to wait. Two being shorn in the chairs, three waiting socially distanced inside, and I think I counted 13 in the queue outside. I've waited this long, so a few more days of growth won't make much difference!
