Good birthday pick, what is the view like? Is it bit scary? Well good news I’ve survived but am tired. An absolutely fantastic experience and definitely something to remember. I’m glad it wasn’t too hot today (compared to the last few days which have been too hot for me walking around the city). The views are absolutely fantastic and you really get to appreciate the size of the city. It was definitely easier on the climb up. Coming down was definitely more scary as it’s a more of a drop. I’m hoping to do a night climb and see the London skyline lit up which I absolutely love. Tomorrow I’m off doing the Charing Cross Hidden London tour before a meeting with DelBoy and the Peckham gang.

Happy birthday david . I can't imagine what it feels like to be 40. That's ancient. Did you pay extra for ticket insurance, just in case? I can’t remember what it’s like to be young!

Happy climbing david . Do us all a favour, though, and don't tread on the actual roof - we've a big concert we all want to see in a couple of weeks. Have a great one! Ok, there’s good news and bad news here, Good news first - I survived the climb. Bad news - The 02 now has a new skylight (ie a very big hole) that has just been put in. Personally, I wanted to slide down the Dome, but unfortunately the health and safety people said no. Spoilsports!

I had a terrible job interview yesterday, where I couldn't even complete a simple practical task that I should be able to do. Really losing any positivity I'll find a job I'm good at, or any decent job at all.

I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s important not to lose faith in yourself or what you can achieve even on the bad days.

Really losing any positivity I'll find a job I'm good at, or any decent job at all. It’s hard isn’t it. Remember you only need to succeed once and just keep ploughing on. Also when you mess up tell yourself that it is probably as the place is not quite right for you (your sub conscience has picked up that the office is not supportive/ too cheery, whatever...) and don't be too down on yourself. Eventually you will get an interview where you hit it off with the interviewer and it seems just right. It will happen! X

I need to put this somewhere and this feels the right place.
My wife had a hip replacement on Tuesday. She has lots of medical complications so we were very nervous. However the operation went very well. The first day and night was hell - she was vomiting and in huge pain. She couldn’t stand up (they start you very early with physio) without almost fainting, very low blood pressure and absolutely non-moving leg.
Second day she was able to stand up and walk a little before collapsing exhausted.
Yesterday she started using crutches, her leg mobility has returned and she could go to the toilet so could have the catheter removed.
The recovery has been just amazing. Other people went home one the second day but she’s getting there. She’s in until Monday as she has Addison’s so could go into adrenal shock (a killer) but she’s had the ok from the physio to go home.

There's going to be something for you, and you'll cruise in when you find it, we all promise you that. I don't know. I've been temping for 11 and a half years & have abandoned hope that there'll ever be the right job for me. I think a lot of people have to put up with whatever they can get nowadays. Sorry if this comes over as horribly pessamistic.

I wish you Nick and your wife well, speedy recovery. Plan something nice for later in the summer when your wife will be mobile and wanting a treat.

At Leeds Playhouse this afternoon, I once again found myself sitting next to my favourite family. Despite being a typically laconic Yorkshireman, they clearly enjoy my company, as I do theirs.
This was my last visit to the pop-up theatre, and although I didn't, as we went our separate ways perhaps I should have asked them where they will be sitting when the 'proper' theatre reopens in the autumn. Then again, perhaps I didn't need to, as fate is sure to bring us back together.

Nice warm day. Pint of Exmoor Gold by the canal, watching a barge work its way through the swing bridge. Lots of dogs, and a swan whose mere existence infuriated one of the dogs. It's nice to have the chance to relax.

Sorry if this comes over as horribly pessamistic. Thanks for the votes of confidence guys, but sadly I am starting to feel this way. I don't have the personality for the jobs I want and I don't have the brains for the ones I can actually get interviews for because of my CV. It feels so much harder in London too where there's so much competition but I don't want to move anywhere else

Thanks Evita in a wheelchair in September is the plan. She uses a wheelchair anyway so we’re not cheating. And a friend has hinted at Come From Away” at some time tba. To be honest sitting together in our own bed eating lasagne (vegan in honour of our recently converted son)watching the telly sounds like heaven.

Have GoT to watch but brother in law hurt knee moving sheep so have been trying to do aunty duties. Turns out it is possible to flip a pancake whilst holding a baby but can't master washing up whilst holding said screaming baby. Toddler only interested in feeding pancakes to family of plastic ducks. Elder two trying to re enact school of rock. And it's still only Tuesday.

You've got to hand it to Mr Tibs. I mean, he really does try to pay attention...I think.
He's currently in a foreign airport, too early, and obviously very bored. Cue text to Mini Tibs as follows:
Him: Which one of those Bulgaria perfumes does mum like?
Mmmm. Lovely. Can't wait. If you pass me in the street smelling of eau de womble it's not my fault!

He's currently in a foreign airport, too early, and obviously very bored. Oh I can imagine how jelus you all are of me. Husband swanning around the world, bringing back luverly duty free goodies to make me appear even younger and beautifuller. Oh yes. I'd hate me too... Just had a message from Mini Tibs. Apparently he checked the price of my perfume on the Debenhams website and found it was £30 cheaper than in the Duty Free. So guess who's not getting any? Mini, on the other hand, managed to choose one that compared favourably with the Debenhams price so she's coming out of this smelling of roses...or whatever...hopefully not roses..ugh. I mean, I wouldn't mind. But as Mini pointed out, he's never price-checked anything in his life due to embarking every year on his Christmas and birthday shopping 22 minutes before shop-closing time on the day before. Right. I'm off to pierce holes in the poopy bags for when he goes walkies later.

We often use the expression - 'just moving the sheep, your honour' English, sheep quite safe though they decided paramedics had hidden food supplies so there was some 'that sheep is standing closer to me than i'm comfortable with'. They can't decide what brother in law has done to leg so they've plastered in just in case and sent him home to wait for a call back for a scan. I ran into may bugs on the way home and got properly creeped out, it's amazing how when you're very tired and covered in sicked up milk and pancake batter and have the theme tune to paw patrol stuck in your head how scary insects can become.

Got to meet Stephen Morris at the Social tonight for the launch of his new book: not every night that you get to meet the drummer in the worlds best band (and unlike most drummers, he is quite fun and interesting to listen to in conversation)

I have a rather fabulous day off, thank you for asking.
Started off with securing tickets to a special event I was worried about, then had a decent and life affirming swim at the sun-kissed lido.
Later I hopped on a bus to see Death of a Salesman at the Yong Vic, wept ever so slightly and gave my first standing ovation of the year. All for a tenner. Fwiw, Chiwetel Ejiofor made his second visit and no one seemed to notice.
Finished by rather luckily bagging a £15 ticket to Anna at the National tomorrow. Back to the grind on Friday .. night!

So guess who's not getting any? I'm sure you're all dying to know what I got in the end? Well. Luckily he didn't go the perfume route. I say luckily... What I did get were macarons with a sell by date in late 2020 - so made of plastic presumably - and some of that stuff in a jar made out of ducks' bladders or somethingorother. Actually, it might be safer if I do rub that on my wrist...
