Ben Elton is touring again! Found out at random when looking at Hugh Jackman tickets. Pre-sale on Ticketmaster was worth the extra £2 over house prices, as I won't be around when those drop. Been a manic booking morning! I've booked Hugh Jackman for myself and hannechalk, also going to get Ben Elton tickets as Christmas present for my boyfriend. Been an expensive week with Michael Ball and another trip to 42nd Street too!

I've booked Hugh Jackman for myself and hannechalk I didn't realise he did *that* kind of thing. Can't have come cheap. I've spent the morning individually wrapping 2,000 mince pies, almost single-handedly. 🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧🥧

Gosh, but I’m tired. It’s been a really manic couple of work-weeks as we try to simultaneously test, document and create a training plan for a system update and the business process changes that go with it. Training to be delivered next week in anticipation of the system changes going live the week after. Has to be done before Christmas hols as the new sales deals we are administering will kick in from 1st Jan, and obviously we basically shut down over Christmas. Would be nothing worse than new rules kicking in on 2nd Jan on everyone’s first grumpy day back in the office and people not knowing how to deal with it.
We’ve also had a (thoroughly lovely) colleague visiting us from the US office for a week and a half. Which has been very useful in a lot of ways, but as she has been sat opposite me I’ve been doing a lot of the looking after and social stuff with her. Which, don’t get me wrong, has been enjoyable - it’s just also very tiring because I haven’t had a quiet half hour for the last couple of weeks.
TGI Friday!

I spent most of the time trying to learn music I have neglected for a choir weekend of concerts...while trying to edit a play. Suffice to say if nobody has a line that is also a line from Dominick The Donkey I will be VERY surprised.

Yesterday cleaned the flat, did some xmas shopping, saw Pinter 4, had a nice dinner, then Daniel Kitson work in progress at the very cramped Bill Murray (he called me a 'process perv' - you had to be there). A long, tiring and very enjoyable day apart from the shopping bit.
Most of today was the train from London back to Inverness where I will remain mostly sedentary while shrugging off a cold.

Dear Lovely People of Great Britain,
Could I politely request, should you feel the inexplicable compunction to hang 3 miles of fairy lights around your front acreage, that you refrain from using the primary colour blue? You see, I keep thinking the Old Bill have business with me when they reflect in my rearview mirror.

I’m in quarantine. Vomiting bug has hit part of my family with whom I was with over weekend and yesterday ( during aforesaid vomiting) so cannot now see other parts of the family or friends with young children or grandchildren in order to avoid spreading the bug. No one allowed in my home. All door handles disinfected. Time bomb ticking.......

It blew...much like two of my tyres.
Storytime....I got asked to do a pre-recorded interview with Radio Wales. My job very kindly let me take a long lunch to rush up there and back. So far so good. Except I get there and nobody can find or contact the producer. I sent the host (who had invited me) several texts asking...nothing. Half an hour after it should take place, we (myself and the lovely BBC team) give up, as I can at this point still get back to work on time.
Just as I'm getting to my car, the host texts back, I should have been at the production company, not the BBC (despite that being where the email said, as checked by the lovely BBC staff...that's by the by) can I still get there? Explained lunch break etc, 'oh but it'll only take 10 minutes and we're 5 minutes away' in a fluster, trying to navigate the various one way systems, and follow googlemaps...I drive over a spike speedhump the wrong way. And massacre my tyres. Two of them. A man laughs at me and doesn't help me, and I can't get it back over the bumps. Eventually I do. Not long after two lovely BBC security men come over and see if they can help, they can't as it's two tyres not one, but they are very helpful and check I'm ok. (I am, and I can ring the RAC, if they're happy for me to leave the car here for a bit, they are)
I ring the RAC, and two and a half hours, one trip to buy another tyre later, I'm home again. I'm out half a day's pay, £160 for tyres and never got to the radio show...2018 can bite me.
My only saving grace was my relatively new boss was lovely about it.
Oh and before that I sliced my thumb from tip to knuckle with an industrial staple. Ow.

I'm going to Bristol tomorrow (I believe people do) and i made a snap decision only yesterday not to drive but to take the train... If the way your week is going so far continues, the train will get a puncture...

A comedy tale from Monday night, I was on a date (that’s not the comedy...well maybe) And was telling the guy I was with for some reason a tale of a male friend who was behaving like a bit of a dick. “Wait is this x” “Yes!” “I know him!” (Of course because Cardiff is that small a town) “That play I’m in, we were talking about, he’s in it” “Of course he is!” “I punch him at the end” “I love you” (I didn’t say the last part but fictional punching of someone annoying me was bonus points for sure) So he gets a second date then ?

Hope somebody is taking notes in the carpeted corridors of Whitehall, the shenanigans going on today and over the last few years would make a great sequel to This House.

Yeah, just said something like that on the Brexit thread. James Graham I would say, probably locked himself in a room by now writing away!

I feel as though I've done nothing but blow my nose today. If a national paper hanky shortage is announced then I'm afraid I'm to blame.

The coworker who got me sick before she went on vacation apologized to me, so that was a bright spot.
