My last-minute cheap Half a Sixpence ticket really paid off - what a fun show! Way more enjoyable than baby talk. May I ask what you managed to get last-minute-ticket-wise? I want to see Half A Sixpence but don't want to sit in the gods or pay £70-odd for the stalls. I'm on my way home from Salisbury. I should be travelling straight theough London but having seen there's understudy action at The Comedy About A Bank Robbery I'm making an unscheduled diversion!

Well now I've seen it all re mobile phones. Three girls on horses, going along our single track lane, which whilst not exactly a major road is certainly well used, two of them with their noses in phones (the girls that is....not the horses...) It would have been more interesting if it had been the horses!

J9 stalls from TKTS for £25. Thanks. That sounds a good deal. I'll have to try TKTS when I next have a free show slot next month. I haven't bothered with them much recently as they've either had poor discounts, poor seat allocations or, on one occasion, a queue stretching a quarter of the way round Leicester Square!

I was quite surprised to be honest - the listed discount wasn't that high so I thought I'd be back of the stalls in a second-price seat. I suspect there was downwards dynamic pricing going on at the theatre before the TKTS discount was worked out.

Spent yesterday morning dressed up as mascot for local hospice - very hot and bulky costume but quite fun. Got pressganged into a photo with some bloke whom I eventually recognised through my very limited vision as our local MP when he asked whether lions had a vote!

On Saturday I finally got round to buying a new satnav. Today I exchanged it for another one because the old one was a sack of crap.
The first satnav I ever owned was a TomTom, and I loved it. Unfortunately TomTom have discontinued maps for it so it was time to get another satnav, and after a couple of weeks of reading manuals I decided on another TomTom. Big mistake. What happened to you, TomTom? Why have you removed useful features like increasing the volume as the speed increases, or an automated zoom that always shows the next minute of road whatever speed you're travelling? And why does navigation not work? Why is it that when I reach a double mini-roundabout you give instructions for the second roundabout ten seconds after I've passed it?
So now I have a Garmin, which is far better for navigation but is really poor for saving arbitrary favourites. Ho hum.
There's one thing that has annoyed me about every satnav I've ever used, and that's the way that units work. I prefer metric units. I think in metric, I understand metric. I'd like to have my satnav set to metric. But if I do that the satnav insists on showing my speed and the speed limit in km/h. Why can't someone create a satnav that allows me to choose the units I prefer but still show speed limits using the same units that are on the signs? That's so obvious a requirement it confuses the hell out of me that anyone would ever do things differently.

Our sat Nav has the funniest and most confusing speech. For example she pronounces Warwick Road as War as in nasty and wick as in candle; Southwark becomes south walk and Blackfriars is blackfreers and so on. But all in a very posh voice as if she was born into the British aristocracy. It is Garmin.

I have the voice switched off on mine - I shout at it quite enough when it's silent, god knows the arguments I'd get into with it if it actually spoke to me...

My husband is just a big kid really...he downloaded a Yoda voice for our Tom Tom and made a small picture of his Morris Minor Pickup that could also somehow be uploaded...so we travel along with a Morris Minor going along on the screen and Yoda saying "left you must turn" etc etc! I have to admit it is quite fun.......and quite logical as Yoda always gives you the direction first! The son-in-law thought it was hilarious when we drove home after a wedding and it has passed into family folklore (not least because I put in the wrong postcode and it just took us to a random field in the middle of nowhere and announced "Your destination you have reached") Luckily all young people have phones and you just say to google "navigate to...." And it turns into a sat nav that is far better than a TomTom and costs nothing! Good old Google......

Years ago I used to take the train to Pwllheli via Machynlleth fairly regularly. The horror with which unaccustomed English people reacted when confronted by the likes of Penrhyndeudraeth, Dyffryn Ardudwy and Morfa Mawddach was a joy to behold, not to mention the "where the hell are the bloody vowels?" of Pwllheli itself. I swear that the main reason for the popularity of Barmouth as a destination is the name. "I'd like a return to Penrh... Penrhyn... Pen... Screw it, we'll go to Barmouth and walk."

Terrific Showstopper this evening. I bounced out of the theatre afterwards grinning like mad. I think that when you go to the theatre regularly its easy to get a bit complacent & not be as excited as when theatre's a rarity. Evenings like tonight are an excellent antidote to complacency.

J9 stalls from TKTS for £25. Well that settles it. Not getting an advance ticket for this for my July vacation. I really want to see it but need to save where ever possible

My choir have a gig this weekend which prompted an English choir member to post in our facebook group "can someone write the name of this place here, I'm not Welsh enough to understand when you say it and I need to googlemap it"

I have a Garmin and it drives me (no pun inteneded) nuts! First it took me off a perfectly good Major A Road onto a minor A road, B road then C road which became a track, for over three miles, then popped me back out on the main road about one mile further along! Then again this week it told us to 'turn right onto the B***' for no sensible reason that we could fathom and would just take us out of our way and bring us back out onto the road we were on several miles later, when we knew the next turn we needed was about 5 miles away on the left, we just weren't sure exactly where. We just use it now to tell us where we are, rather than as a tool to get us where we want to go, except maybe for the final detailed instructions! As a very recent Welsh resident living in a Welsh-name village and a house with a Welsh name, I am trying very hard to get the correct pronunciations, but not sure if it's better to make a right royal pig's ear of it, or simply admit defeat and say 'that place that looks like...'! (We have Penbontrhydybeddau close by, which I think.... is penbont rhud-i-beth-eye...?)

I'm having a day of "I really suck at this job" which basically translates at crying at spreadsheets. (and probably crying more in general existential despair that there ARE things I would/could be good at for a living)
Also I brought salad for lunch and I wish it was chips.

I'd mock, but I also had a salad for lunch. But then I'm on a I-want-to-fit-into-my-summer dresses-again diet. Which is already yielding results, so very motivating. Many more salads in my near future.

I had a massive baked potato which was swimming in chilli con carne and cheese for lunch. I'm starting to feel sleepy. My colleagues say I'm "tattie-stoned".

I had a nightmare last night about sat-navs failing on cars so the cars drove straight into houses. I imagine it was inspired by this discussion, as I don't own one myself.

I've been dieting since the second week of January - I've reached the point where I'm watching people eat to try and get some vicarious enjoyment. Someone brought donuts and cake in for their birthday yesterday....
