Oh, I don't like work buffets as there's never anything healthy to eat and I worry about who has handled the food, etc. But others always seemed to seize upon everything and anything. Yes sorry we're a bunch of animals... (actually everyone just knows that they over-order on the cake so we get a bite sized piece of lemon drizzle or cheesecake once every couple of months)

Had a really crap day in work so am now consoling myself with pizza. Looking forward to my much more theatre-heavy week next week that means I'll have to leave the office at a relatively normal time each day!

St. Patrick's Day - managed to have 'just' the six pints of Guinness today, but that's probably more in one day than I've had in the whole year since I went to Dublin for the same day last year. Now going to end the day by watching that lost Irish 'classic' Taffin on DVD.

I was just thinking back to what I'd seen at work and where I now volunteer: always lots of small pastry items like sausage rolls and quiche; little sandwich triangles but fillings oozing dressing; endless packets of crisps; tiny pieces of fat-and-sugar-laden cake, etc. But little or no sign of something plainer and more sustaining or of easy-to-eat fruit such as bananas, apples and so on. But I admit to being a carb fan so looking for wholemeal bread, bananas, etc. The fact that there's nothing healthy means I'm not tempted; that and seeing others prod and poke the selection, which is then left open to the air in a room where people may be coughing and sneezing... you get the idea!

So then we have the second-lunch-dilemma.

In our place a posh buffet means salads and dips and fruit as well as quiche and sandwiches. Nary a sausage roll in sight. And then chocolate torte and cheesecake for dessert.

Maybe it's best if I don't describe the state of the leftovers available to education practitioners - if you want to hold onto your breakfasts, that is.

Oh no I was mocking my colleagues!!(trust me if you'd seen them at a buffet you'd understand...) Aside from pilfering cake, for which I make an exception, and the fruit which nobody eats that's about all I do eat!

Yeah posh Buffet is right posh with us- we have no in-house catering (a blessing after a decade of University catering *vomits beige into a bin*) and when the external board members are in, well they break out the big guns

Fed up with football, wishing I was in Valencia for the weekend as planned but entertained by my decision to switch the thumbs down button back on on a football related forum I run. Now people are merrily giving thumbs down to those who disagree with them. Its turned the entire forum into a giant Wicked discussion thread. I will let them play for a couple of hours then take the function away from them again when things calm down

And now onto the annoying thud of bass that suggests the upstairs neighbour is having a party.

Was really happy about getting the front row seat for "42nd Street" for Saturday matinee. - Now just gone on TFL website & found trains are **** next Saturday. - all diverted. Will have to allow loads of extra time. - Still at least it isn't a special bus service.

My social experiment on another forum went very well. It appears that once you give users the chance to give a thumbs down to a post it quickly degenerates into a bit of a war zone. Back to just having the thumbs up function available again today and relative serenity has been restored.

We all keep our user names but the butterfly forum we invade gets threads such as Madam Butterfly and Woman in Cabbage White

Ugh. Been awake since 4 am with a really disgusting cold. Going to have to venture out to buy more Kleenex soon. 🤧
It came on yesterday afternoon after I'd been sat opposite my Dad for a couple of hours. I could feel myself getting stuffy and was all 'hm, I think I'm getting a cold' and he said 'oh, yeah, I had a cold last week'.
Thanks, Dad, nice of you to share.

Your own personal Lord of the Flies! What forum? Always thought how funny it would be for a mass invasion of new forum from another forum. We all keep our user names but the butterfly forum we invade gets threads such as Madam Butterfly and Woman in Cabbage White I have to admit I took part in such a thing once A bunch of people from a Doctor Who forum staged a mass invasion of ITV's official forum for Celebrity Love Island. largely to claim they'd seen things happening that were obscure Doctor Who references. ("Did you see the bit where Jordan turned round and they were all wearing nicotine patches LOL" etc. Possibly you had to be there ) Love Island was such a flop that I think we were about 90% of the traffic on the forum, not sure if this led to ITV recommissioning the show due to it's massive social media footprint

Mini Tibs passed her driving test today. That's the good bit. This evening I let her take my car to drive herself to her dance classes. At the last minute I chose to put myself in the passenger seat. I know. I KNOW......... Well, I do now! (In my defence it's an automatic and she'd only ever driven manual.) So, obviously, I have brought the car home. I now need to go through the whole thing again IN THE DARK when classes chuck out in 10 minutes. *sobs into gin and tonic (which I can't even more than sniff until all this is over!)*
