Gotta say, I'm liking the new marketing and artwork for the Broadway production... ...even if it does remind me of another Harold Ramis / Andie MacDowell 90's comedy...

Looking forward to hearing reports from people who see this tonight and over the coming weeks. Will be interesting to see what they have changed from the London run and how the audience on Broadway takes to it

Oh dear there appears to be a technical issue with the revolves. The delay has gone on for so long that they have offered everyone in the audience a free drink

OMG! Didn't the same thing happen in London? Not quite. They didn't explain exactly what it was but the decided to turn the first preview into an open dress rehearsal instead. Something can't have been quite right for them to do this though it ran smoothly with no major problems. Regarding what happened last night the general consensus online appears to be that they smashed it despite the change to a concert style show. It looks like they handled it really well at the theatre with offers for free drinks and and invite to come back for free when they wish.

We were told on the night that they simply hadn't managed to run the show all the way through without stopping (and weren't sure if they'd been able to that night either). From what I've seen on Twitter the audience last night were positive and understanding.

I do remember at the Old Vic early preview the cast put signposts into holes in the revolve, but as it revolved the signposts fell over .... Andy Karl trying to keep a straight face, sing and step over falling signs was a giggle. They changed it when I saw it again to the cast holding the signposts up ...

I wonder how a UK audience would have reacted to this.

I wonder how a UK audience would have reacted to this. We'd have probably tutted a bit, checked our watches every 2 minutes and queued in an orderly fashion at the bar.

LOL That's what I mean! I just think it's interesting how the reception of an incident like this would have been so different. The crowd on Broadway almost seemed excited at the novelty of the unusualness of the situation, and thought of it as Broadway "history".

Anyway, you're right -- I would've loved to have been there because I like to see how creative teams respond to these kinds of things. I've never actually seen a hold on a professional show, but I did see Spider-Man twice and things happened then. The crowd here was definitely excited to have seen something like this. As much as I applaud their determination to give the audience a show, I think we can all agree that the only way to have truly compensated the ticket holders was to have received a lap dance and an inappropriate grope from Andy Karl. I'd have demanded nothing less.

I'd have demanded nothing less. You'd got another restraining order if you'd ask for that!!
