Anyone else enjoying this BBC drama, which started last week? I've been hugely underwhelmed by most Beeb drama this year, and of course we'll have to wait and see how this one plays out, but initial signs are good. Interesting setting, great cast, some intriguing unanswered questions. I admit I had to watch it twice to get proper hold of the time jumps, but it was much clearer on second viewing. {Spoiler - click to view} Given the ending to series 1, I'm just REALLY hoping that this time round, we don't find out it was a pine marten wot dun it.

I watched this yes, having watched Series One with James Nesbitt.
They've called upon the services of the same expert again who had a limp in the first series. (Something to do with a road accident.) Now, is it me or did he have the limp in last week's episode in some scenes but not others?!
Liked it so far but can't quite fathom why we are in the Middle East. I dare say all will become clear(er)...

Ha, I didn't notice the limp disappearing!
I think the young former soldier must be doing security work out in Iraq. Assume Baptiste has made some sort of connection between 'Alice' and the soldier's father he wants to ask him about (given they died a week apart and there was another connecting character, this seems not unlikely).
I'm still trying to make up my mind whether David Morrissey's character knew more than he was letting on when 'Alice' returned - or if he just got to the realisation 'the girl who comes back to us will be a broken, shell of a person' before the rest of the family did. His reaction in the car when they picked up the son seemed unusual, that's all.

Also meant to say that after episode one I couldn't help thinking about the Bart Layton film The Imposter of 2012. (Same people that produced Man on Wire.) This is a documentary but it's played out like a regular mystery movie with lookalike actors replaying selected scenes from the real story. Sonds naff but it really isn't! Completely gripping! One of the best films I've seen. If ever truth were stranger than fiction...
