At Wicked for me, it’s always been a mixture of normal people who just want a selfie with the pink witch, hardcore fangirls who are delightfully annoying, autograph sellers, normal fangirls and people who haven’t actually seen the show and just want to chat to people. My friends are always really unlucky and go when all the fangirls decide to invade. I very much doubt it attracts many autograph sellers as there are no "stars" in the cast. I haven’t seen any autograph sellers at Wicked before, but I have seen listings on eBay where they’ve superimposed Jennifer DiNoia’s signature onto a picture of Emma Hatton and called it “AUTHENTIC HAND SIGNED ELPHEBA PICTURE - RACHEL TUCKER” and tried to get £20 for it

lewisv has reminded me - the correct term to use is “crazies”

There's a danger of projecting too much onto actors, sometimes. It's worth remembering that signing autographs at stage door is a job, and when you meet an actor in a fan context they are to an extent acting. I've seen actors all smiles at stage door then just about collapse over how stressful they find it. Or actors laughing up a storm with fans then come inside and start loudly bitching about how awful they are. Then of course their fans go online to say, "no it's fine to follow him to the tube/stage door every night/ask him to sign your boobs, he genuinely loves meeting his fans!" On the other hand I've also worked with actors who really do enjoy and get a kick out of meeting fans, but if they're subdued or grumpy one day for personal reasons, all it takes is one fan to go online and say "he hates meeting fans".

While I'm here...people who hang around stage door without seeing the show on a regular basis. That's weird/a line to me. MAYBE popping back another night if you saw it and couldn't/didn't wait and wanted an autograph (maybe, I'm being generous) but general hanging around on several days of a week.
I'm currently aware of a few people hanging around a *cough* London transfer to New York, at least a couple of times a week without seeing the show. Which...yes strikes me as tipping over a line of what is reasonable behaviour.

Right I'm necking a bottle of vodka through a straw before I see Ramin in concert then. (actually he doesn't need me to vomit on him to take his shirt off I'd probably just have to ask nicely)

Wow, this board has another lower level that even I knew nothing about. Don't play innocent with us. You and @ryan are founding members of the lower level. Either that or lowering the tone got too easy for us, we had to find a new challenge.

Ryan - Lord of the Theatreboard Sub-basement. It's all the restraining orders keeping him down there.

To be honest, I’d call myself a fanboy of Wicked, even though I’ve “only” seen it 7 times since my theatre-going days started in 2015. The term fangirl/boy shouldn’t be a negative one but the few “crazies”/attention seekers make being a big fan look bad. Of course the term is subjective, there’s no definition in the dictionary of how many shows you have to attend/what you have to do to become a “fangirl/boy”. To be honest in my opinion anyone who sees Wicked or any other show more than once a year would be classed as one because it shows quite a devotion towards the show but like I said I don’t see why the word should ever have negative connotations I’ve been a Jason Donovan fan for 30 years (don’t shoot me people!) and random crazies still turn up at times... I think it is just one of those things. The bombarding of people on Twitter by tagging them on every single post they make is just as bad at times though.

Just seen a massive palava on Twitter regarding Carrie Hope Fletcher not attending a signing at Heathers last night. An angry mother berated her because Carrie was drinking at the bar with some friends who had attended the show that night in full view of a queue of fans waiting to meet her. The mother has since deleted her tweets and made her account private, but there were quite a lot of people ripping her a new one.

When I commented about how it was going to be bedlam at TOP with Carrie and her stage door dramas it was pointed out that there IS no stage door so all would be well.
looks like Carrie has got around that hurdle! There is a “signing table”.

I look forward to an instructional video on how one should behave “at signing table” (she’ll no doubt be dropping the definite article).

This was off the back of some drama (natch) from a disappointed Mum (who has since deleted her twitter, which while she was a bit entitled in her tweets, I can also imagine the sh*te she was getting from other fans so I feel a bit sorry for her).
I think in this instance the fact that Carrie was also drinking in TOP bar but didn't stay to sign rubbed folk up the wrong way. While in no way does she have to stay and sign, I think perhaps slinking away to another pub would possibly have saved a bit of drama too.

Oh dear. I remember joking that she could use the fire exit when this casting came out and I discovered TOP had no "proper" stage door (as in, one that's round the back of the building and says "Sprinkler Stop Valve Inside" next to ti.

I've not paid too much attention to it the past couple of times I've seen Heathers but apparently where they do the signings it'll say who's gonna be there (the cast will have said at the interval if they're happy to stick around and sign) so I think if Carrie's name isn't on that table then people should respect that, and it's none of their business if she decides to stay in the bar to catch up with friends. The whole thing is ridiculous and it's dumb how much hate she gets over this.
