This has an Enronish feel. Both because of its subject matter, the Latin American banking crisis of the eighties, and its "look".
The theme of the banking crisis, caused by excessive and often unnecessary cheap loans which went sour when interest rates soared, is underpinned by the story of how a rookie banker with family issues from outside of the Ivy League banking mafia, gradually rises in wealth and power even if it costs him his soul.
The Enron parallel I saw is in the fantasy scenes woven into the narrative with plenty of mime and movement and disco dancing to add visual interest to the proceedings.
I would have liked more of a critique of the corrupt politicians who benefitted directly to balance the obvious critique of the criminally irresponsible banks who lent money for worthless projects in order to feather their nests. But all in all an intelligent and thought-provoking play which merits a visit.
