Very surprising, as although musicals do seem to dominate Broadway more than the West End, I never realised the gap was so significant. I love diversity in the arts of theatre, and I would hate to see this scenario over here and London lose some of the plays that ignite the city as a global theatrical hub, but I think this reflects why we have a lack of new musicals. It's not that there is a lot less talent here that prevents us development a similar case, but such a scenario consisting of inspiring and revolutionary revivals and new productions, but rather audience's have come to accept and not challenge the trend of long-running musicals that are just transfers of Broadway's commercial hits, and not even the best of the bunch, and that just demonstrates exactly how vulnerable the musical industry of London is at present.
