Surely he'll be back with a bang though? I wouldn't consider the casting of Cinderella a bang when most of the cast is already announced and it is a pantomime rather than a musical or play. If it was a bang, it will be news of a transfer, new show or a full casting announcement I'd assume.

I find the Cinderella casting quite interesting though as I'm intrigued to see who will be cast as Cinderella and the Ugly Sisters. Also as the last announcement was back in June. I do agree transfers are big news though - just personal preference.

Returning to work after three weeks' holiday is always a depressing, soul-destroying prospect.
Especially if your first assignment is to announce who's playing Cinders in panto.
Even if george22 wets himself with excitement at the news.

As other has alluded to the Vaudeville needs a show, also the Trafalgar Studios.
Now you get announcements for post Christmas shows.

Baz tweeted that Oslo, which is currently playing a sold out run Off-Broadway, may be transferring to the National! I really hope it makes it's way across the pond, I really wanted to see it last time I was in NY, but tickets are really hard (well, any reasonably priced tickets) to get!

Who has got that thankless task of seeing shows in New York and recommending them to the National's Artistic Director? I would hate to do that job, go figure.

For someone who's job takes him around the world anyway, Baz always has big holidays. He tends to have a long summer holiday and also post xmas. His twitter account has said he is in California.
