Probably the worst and most underwhelming lineup I’ve ever seen at a Royal variety. Oliver was incredible and gave an amazing medley. None of the other performances really were anything special. Penn and Teller died like a wet fart. Penn and Teller were outshone by Stephen Mulherns magic, and even his tricks were simple. Elton literally only appeared for one minute. Definitely struggling to walk as David has to hold him like his carer.

Devil Wears Prada was great Oliver was - well Oliver - nothing different from every other Oliver production really in the last 50 years. Stephen Mulhearn was excellent Penn and Teller were good- not great Marisha Wallace was the crowd favourite - sensational for her big number. Sydney Christmas was cute Starlight was people rollerskating - nothing more to add Loads of tears for the Cancer charity finale. Well done all

They did a sequence with the agents with different letter names. Like U Y I C. Amanda and Alan appeared in the sketch too, I didn’t think they were necessary. Sydnie was good & Starlight very fun. Marisha just sung her usual And I Am Telling You. Having seen Amber Riley perform that in 2016 Royal Variety I much preferred that one.

Penn and Teller need to retire. Their performance was an embarassment. Using a “borrowed” credit card from your celebrity guest, Vanessa Williams, is not magic.
Stephen Mulhern didn’t fare too much better … exposing the one illusion for half the folks in the room.
Those booking the acts really need to do a better job. There also was not a single “major” singer on the bill. Surely they can find someone with some actual A list celebrity music appeal?
This year certainly will not make for must see TV viewing.
