I’ve booked this Terence Rattigan play at Richmond solely for the joy of seeing Sian Phillips act, although Nathaniel Parker should be very good too.
Absolute legend.

Just for context for those who were not aware of this production - it's two Rattigan one-act plays: -
The Browning Version & Table Number Seven, which is the second act of Separate Tables.
24 Oct - 2 Nov 2024 - Theatre Royal Bath
5 - 9 Nov 2024 - Malvern Theatre
12 - 16 Nov 2024 - Cambridge Arts Theatre
27 Jan - 1 Feb - Richmond Theatre
3 - 8 Feb 2025 - Cheltenham Everyman Theatre
11 - 15 Feb 2025 - Oxford Playhouse

Got the ATG email about this earlier and have booked for Richmond. Perfect for a dreary January - a couple of well-written short plays and an opportunity to see Sian Philips and Nathaniel Parker again (plus a £5 discount for ATG+).

Not coming very far north, is it? Malvern is about the closest and that's harder to get to than London! I might get to Richmond if I'm in London that week; otherwise it's not a practical proposition.
Not sure about Table Number Seven. Isn't half of Separate Tables better paired with...the other half of Separate Tables? Whatever happened to David Hare's South Downs? I remember enjoying that at the HPT when it was introduced as a bespoke companion piece for The Browning Version. Maybe it was just the superb performances of Anna Chancellor and Nicholas Farrell that entranced me; but I've never seen it programmed again.

I usually go to London once a month. I'm going to Nottingham on Saturday for A Raisin in the Sun. I can get to Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield or even Hull and back in a day. But to go to Bath, Cheltenham, Cambridge or even (as you say) Malvern it's sometimes quickest to go to London and back out.

Merseyside. That's the point. I see , I visit my parents in Liverpool from Malvern by train sometimes and it is a hassle as you have to change in New St.

I see , I visit my parents in Liverpool from Malvern by train sometimes and it is a hassle as you have to change in New St. Something it has in common with a few other places - notably Stratford. It is technically possible to do a Stratford matinee on a day trip - I've done it twice. Likewise Malvern. I've done that once (for The Homecoming - and Mathew Horne chose that day to be 'indisposed'!) and it's a pleasant enough journey and destination - but a very long day. The LIV-BIR leg alone is 1h50m each way; only 20m or so less than LIV-EUS.

Saw this today on the matinee and it was so well performed and staged. Brilliant performances from all the cast and at 91 Sian Phillips was magnificant. I was lucky to see her afterwards in the theatre when I was on my desk so got to tell her myself.
