Agree, their system is so infuriating.

I was shocked that even the side seats in the circle are £50 now! Outrageous.

According to the Donmar's website, the running time is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes. No interval.

The selection of seats in the Donmar Daily allocation is dire. Today there were just 2 at the back wall of the right side of the Circle.

I don't understand why they can't just relist returned tickets online so people can just check themselves. It's 2024, I don't want to phone the box office, and then have to wait for a call back when and if something turns up.

This is odd because releasing them back to the website is exactly what they did do for the whole of next to normal? I lived on that bloody website for 7 weeks!

Seconding that it was extremely easy to get next to normal return tickets at the Donmar online basically every day if you had time to sit and refresh for a couple of hours. In person returns were only held at the box office if very close to showtime. I was hoping it would be the same for Great Comet as I slept on the onsale for that so hope this isn't the new thing.

I've never fought so hard to get a ticket in the past. It was completely worth it!
Not familiar with the source material, I was surprised to how light and accessible the text is. It is so audience friendly, it will be one of those we get sick from being produced so much.
Brody is incredibly grounded while surrounded of a cast of bigger, more physical actors. I'm sure others in the future will give the character their own spin, yet I'm glad I saw it with him.
Great production, charming, interesting, funny, makes you emotionally invested. Certainly not the dark and horrifying affair I thought I was expecting from the subject matter.

I saw this tonight and thought it was a really good show. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect as I knew nothing about this, but I was totally engaged. Brody put in a solid performance and rest of the cast were fab. As Blaxx has just said I was emotionally invested in this and angry at the way the justice system works or doesn’t in the US. I loved the opening warning by the guard regarding mobile phones, sweet etc. so glad I got to see this and Brody on stage. Reading his bio in the program it seems this must be his first time on stage, unless someone can correct me.

He is definitely a natural, and is so measured in his approach to the role. Would be great to see him do some classics.

Hmmm. Disappointing. It's just not a good play and has not been very well directed. The coup is in Mr Brody who, despite a low powered start, remains on stage pretty much throughout and is very charismatic. I could not engage with his plight and found a couple of the expositions unnecessary filler adding nothing to the arch of the piece which oddly needs more narrative drive, IMO! Solid supporting cast. Several unoccupied seats which was surprising.

In contrast to the above, I thought this was absolutely knock out last night.
REALLY thoughtfully directed - I hadn't watched the documentary so I really was going along for the ride not know where we were going to end up.
Adrien Brody is absolutely sensational in this - it's such a gruelling part, and he plays it so intelligently (I didn't know how the play was going to resolve, so really went along for the 'did he/didn't he' side of it. Also thought Nana Mensah was wonderful and really moving.
It's a play that makes you come out and want to scream at the justice system just like I did with prima Facie (and it makes a lot of sense that it's the same director)
I hadn't expected much from it, but 1hr 45 mins FLEW by and I'd see it again tomorrow.

I was left wondering if the documentary is as tender as the stage production. Also, were there references to the title of the show that I missed? I must have been distracted but don't remember any.

I was left wondering if the documentary is as tender as the stage production. I haven't seen the show, but I saw the documentary back in the day, and it was one bloke talking in a very matter-of-fact monotone uncomplaining way about his experiences.
It got it's power by avoiding sentiment and being laser-focused, I felt.
It's a positive sign to me that the tenderness you mention sounds completely different to what I recall from the documentary, as I don't want a facsimile of what I've already seen.

There are a lot of circle tickets for Tuesday 15/10 currently on the website for anyone interested. For the Donmar Daily, even if you click on a ticket, the site seems to jam and then it's gone. I hate their system. Hope Sheader will change it in time. The worst one to use by a long chalk.
