I wonder how far and wide they cast their nets across the country when deciding who to approach for a new series?
I wonder how much apprehension there was amongst the celebrities to commit, given all of the negative press surrounding the show recently?
I wonder who have they got in reserve in case something happens? Remember Kelvin stepping in for Jamie and bloody end up winning it!
It must be extremely difficult for the celebrities to not say anything in the months leading up to the launch show, especially when they're excited to tell their family and loved ones.

Just watching the first ever episode from 2004.
So much has changed and so little has changed with it.
Even then the training room was a place for tears and upset!

Just watching the first ever episode from 2004. I watched it too, it seemed to be edited as the judges comments seemed to be cut off. It seemed really amateurish though although it was the first show I guess.

Paul Merson and Nick Knowles spotted going into rehearsals too. Both confirmed on The One Show, along with Sam Quek, so that list was correct

The pairings will be interesting to watch. Which male pros miss out?
They won't have brought Alijaz back only to just use him as a group number dancer. Neil will almost certainly miss out again.
I would like a rest from Carlos but we shall see.

There’s a hell of a lot of middle aged men this year, I literally cannot pick a man who I would think could win. JB and Shayne probably have the most potential, but I don’t think a man is winning it this year.

Not enough women for the male pros all to get a partner? I'd pair Neil and Tom Dean on a justice for gingers ticket! Guaranteed to get to the final.🤣

I don't think it is significantly different to most years.
We have standard set of BBC regulars, a few sporty types and some singers.
Ok there are some reality TV types. But I remember the angry voices when Joe Sugg was recruited and he went on to become very popular and a decent dancer.
This feels like a pretty standard mix of people. A few with some dance experience but not quite the ringers we have had since the show began.

That would see the first full show on 28th if they give them 2 weeks to prepare for week 1 as they have often done.

Not sure who the likely winner would be. First few out could be Nick Knowles, Go Compare and Paul Merson. Chris McCausland will go so far on the public vote but likely bows out about halfway through. I have JB Gill ahead of Shayne Ward on likely dancing potential, Pete Wicks will have a fanbase but the strongest males would likely be Tom Dean and Jamie Borthwick with JB just behind.
There are only 6 females compared to 9 males so they should be easier to grade. Toyah might last a few weeks but would be first female out IMO followed quickly by Dr Poonam. Sam Quek is well known and is physically fit but can she dance. Montell Douglas is probably the physically fittest contender but doesn't quite seem a finalist to me. Tasha Ghouri is the youngest female contestant of this class and has some dance training, attractive, Love Island profile, has had hearing implants so kicks a lot of boxes for me as a likely finalist. Sarah Hadland is the 2nd oldest female this year but I think she'll be good. She will bring a lot of acting and comedy ability to her dances and is well known via Miranda. She is my wild card to go close or all the way to the final.
We also have to factor in who Amy might be partnered with as that pairing will get a huge amount of love and votes.
A lot of male pros will miss out on a partner this year with a 9 to 6 male to female split of celebs. Off the top of my head there aren't any LGBT contestants so will there be any same gender couples?

Paul Merson will most likely have the arsenal vote just like Tony Adams. So expect him in for a bit.

Craig doesn't have any Saturday panto performances until 28 December 2024, so we can probably assume this year's final is on 21 December.
Anybody want to work backwards?
