Count Arthur Strong at the sold out King’s Hall in Ilkley, Friday 31st May. Hilarious, exhaustingly so, bizarre, surreal, a real tour de force by Steve Delaney. It was worth the price of admission to witness Count Arthur’s take on Laurence Olivier’s Richard III. His next tour, Count Arthur Strong as Charles Dickens in A Christmas Carol, in November- December, looks inspired, and will suit Count Arthur very well. Sadly for me, all nearby venues are sold out already .

I saw this too, a couple of weeks back. Steve Delaney is an incredible performer and I thought it wasn't a bad show, although the first half was a bit directionless. I adore Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show (although it lost its way a bit towards the end) but felt it had a totally different tone on TV that didn't work nearly so well. My problem with his solo live shows is that, to be truly funny, the character has to be interacting with other people, 'normal' people who find themselves being increasingly drawn into his surreal world. Without them to play against, the character can get a bit exhausting, and isn't nearly so funny.
