Hello! I'm new to TheatreBoard and, as I am very interested to know how people find theatre news, I thought I should ask the experts! What do you consider the best places to find out about new productions, reviews, and general theatre news? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the theatre board. To be honest here is one of the best places as board members post news pretty much as soon as it happens via various websites, Instagram, Twitter etc

For news it is here or, unfortunately, it is still Twitter and following a wide variety of accounts.
Reviews, again here for West End and large shows. For more fringe, it is it Twitter again to see if Reviews Hub, North West End, Everything Theatre or London Theatre1 etc etc have done any coverage.

Welcome patiently_waiting,
Again, Twitter. There's a guy called Shaun Tossell, based in Bristol. He pretty much has his finger on the pilse.
Plus there's Broadwayword- the UK Site.

Welcome on board.
I'm not on X so here and what's on stage are my sources. I dip into Playbill occasionally

Thing is, everybody gets their info from somewhere. Sometimes someone on X or IG breaks it and one of our members picks it up and posts here, sometimes one of our insiders or members breaks it and the socials get it from us. It’s very much a “joint effort”. However I would say that for a single source of information and ease of access/reading without having to follow lots of accounts and for intelligent discussion (not like the dross on Facebook) TheatreBoard wins hands down. Even if we don’t break it, the news will be on here very quickly.
A further thought, has anyone ever seen any of the usual suspects from the blogger/vlogger community credit TheatreBoard as their source? No. They’re all over this site but because they are so desperate to appear to be the one “in the know” they wouldn’t say they got the info here. On the other hand we are very willing to quote their tweets or IG posts and give them the credit. Read into that what you will. And that’s not an invitation to get into specific names!

My advice is to get your fingers in the pie - know people in the industry. Get to know people. That's if you're the gossiping kind, of course Otherwise Theatreboard generally wins out because of its size and who is in it... usually here and the generally associated theatre forums is where you'll hear the news first. Turn your notifications on for all the associated theatre Twitter accounts. If you're younger and more tech-savvy, I know there's servers on the messaging application Discord where people share news and goss. I don't tend to hang around those though... your mileage in terms of how irritating people are may vary.

I get a lot of newsletters from all the places (theatres, production companies, etc). It becomes quite cumbersome and hard to keep up with everything... TheatreBoard does seem the way to go to get everything in one place!

Actual theatre news? Whatsonstage and Broadwayworld
Gossip and insider info? Theatreboard and occasionally the broadwayworld board and the theatre thread on Tattle.

I saw a note on the The Constituent - Old Vic thread about posters and made me wonder how often does seeing a poster make you want to see a production?
