Shall we go Southbank centre then - as it’s a bit nearer the bridge over to embankment might make it marginally easier and quicker for people heading into west end? Unless anyone strongly objects BurlyBeaR could you possibly add the location to the title? Many thanks Done. Is it a particular area of the Southbank centre? A bar? Cafe?

Perhaps the queen Elizabeth hall cafe. Not that exciting admittedly! Unless anyone can suggest somewhere else? catcat100 - is that where you were thinking?

QEH is a good choice as will be the quieter bar of the two as most people gravitate towards the Royal Festival Hall.
For those that need feeding the Southbank food market will be on behind RFH and I've always been able to take food and drink from there into QEH.

BurlyBeaR - I think we have a venue - Queen Elizabeth Hall at RFH. Thanks so much for all your help with this!

I’m going to the Wide Awake Festival in Brockwell Park on that date so I can’t make it but hope everyone has a great time: I’d check what’s on at the QEH that night or space might be at a minimum.

Thanks Marwood will double check what’s on. And hopefully we can organise another one where people who couldn’t make this one can make it.

May I make a suggestion?
The venue selected- the Queen Elizabeth Hall at RFH- is fine for me however, in the event that there is something on and we can't get in, may I suggest the British Film Institute (BFI) bar.
There are comfy sofas and the opportunity to talk without too much noise, like at a pub, or load music playing.
There is a bar area serving alcohol, cocktails, tea and coffee.
It's literally right next door to the Royal Festival Hall, sitting between the National Theatre on the other side.
Again, just thought and potential should things go pear shaped.

Happy to switch to the BFI from the start if you think better anthony40

I should be free to come that Saturday! Great - look forwards to meeting you! I guess we will need to have some way to recognise each other. I’m happy to post a description of me and what I’m wearing nearer the time!

Well, everyone knows what I look like! That moustache is pretty distinguishable. We will all look out for you! I’m a short, blonde, shoulder length hair, late 40s woman! So possibly don’t stand out that much at RFH 😂

The BFI bar is also a good option, if people want to go there instead- I live in London too so to me it's all the same. Have been to QEH only once, as far as I am aware there is only the cafe on the ground floor, but not sure??

I’m also in London so doesn’t make any difference to me either.
Yes I also thought there was the cafe on the ground floor? I guess someone could specify a corner? I don’t really know it so if someone more knowledgeable could suggest that would be great.

As long as TFL are being good that weekend I plan to be there. Anthony40 knows me so he can point and shout at me so you know who I am.

I go to the Southbank centre quite a lot so know it very well.
For those that haven't been, the Queen Elizabeth Hall is the smaller concrete building with the yellow staircase attached. Its next to the Royal Festival Hall which is the big white building with the glass front.
If you go into the QEH by the main doors and go slightly left and go as if going into the hall itself there's a number of open booths which are rarely used during the day. Suggest we set this as our meeting point and see how many turn up. There's also outside tables close by in case its sunny.
QEH does have 2 bars, one of which serves teas/coffees/cakes.

Sounds like there could be quite a number of us there, which is exciting!
Just to give everyone advance warning- I am absolutely rubbish (and I really can’t stress this enough) at remembering names.
I’m great with faces, just not names.
So, with a profile name to remember and your actual name, there’s very little chance I’m afraid. I’m apologising in advance!
It’s gonna be embarrassing!

I may well be able to attend - unless I decide to go away for the weekend. If I'm not and I'm going out with friends clubbing in THAT London on the Saturday night, then I'll definitely come along in the afternoon.

I still have fond memories of meeting up somewhere near Wicked prior to some special performance (was it Rachel Tucker’s last night or something?) several years ago with members of TheatreBoard. We had some very pleasant and civil drinks then many trotted off to the Apollo Victoria theatre, leaving a few of us behind. Those still in the pub proceeded to get a little bit intoxicated and had a much better time being catty about various shows, then I seem to remember crashing the Wicked stage door crew… it was a great time.
Anyway all that’s to say that I encourage everyone to come but I’m off on a holiday that weekend so will have to miss out. Good luck everyone.
