The rest of the European tour has been quietly taken off sale as well, so the upcoming London run may be the last we have of Bat for a while.

Agree - I love BOOH but think it might be taking an extended break soon. It was designed as a spectacle for the ears and eyes; the abomination I saw in Bristol was only maybe 25% of that. Until it can be the whole extravaganza again I’m afraid I’ll make do with the cast recording and someone firing a party popper at me. |

Great atmosphere tonight, and as I said before great to have Bat back. However there are now 2 more songs that have been cut, Not Allowed To Love which I knew about, and then Who Needs The Young which I wasn’t expecting and really seemed to impact on Falco/Sloane’s story as you don’t really get the understanding of what their relationship is like at the beginning and made those initial scenes with the family feel quite clunky.
Lots of other small changes, many I liked and a few might take some getting used to. The line “Don’t be a dick… tator” I think has gone now.
The show finished at 9.55 which is the earliest it’s ever been and there was no Good Girls at the end which I thought there might have been, given it was the first show back in the West End. Maybe they’ll do that for press night next week?

Whaaat? I love ‘Not Allowed To Love’. It is probably my 2nd fave after BOOH. I don’t really like Who Needs The Young so thats no loss, but there is only so much tinkering you can do before it loses itself.

The giving of Strat’s blood has gone as well. |

I caught the show in Vegas before it closed and the version I saw tonight in London was the same as the Vegas version just with less cut songs (Vegas shows have to be a maximum of 90 minutes).
Who Needs the Young was never my favourite song but it established the relationship between Sloane and Falco and I think their relationship really loses something without it. It's also criminal that Rob and Sharon now only have one song in the first half of the show.
There's also no explanation for why the Lost don't age anymore, lots of cut dialogue etc. On the positive side I was happy to see that Falco is now less violent in the scene with Sloane and Zahara and some of the plots changes make the storyline a little more 'realistic' and understandable.
I fell in love with the show because it was crazy and different and full of chemistry, I hope they don't modify it to the point that it loses it's uniqueness.

I attended last night. I've never taken to this show quite as much as others, but the version yesterday was much better than the version I saw in Wimbledon last year (or, at least, I got into it and enjoyed it much more).
They really don't like to advertise the cast anywhere, but Luke Street was on as Strat and Alexandra Doar made her debut as Raven. Both very good. The highlight for me was Matteo Johnson as Tink. I don't normally connect with anyone in that role, but Matteo displays just the right mix of camp and vulnerable for me.
As others have said, this is now a rather short show. The first half is done by 20:20 and the show is finished at 21:50. This is very stripped down from the original version (they only need a few more tweaks to fit this in The Other Palace), but it works well in this format. Even though this finishes early, allow 10 minutes just to get out of the building if you're sat near the front.
A hint for those who want to attend on a budget. Try Rush later in the day. I did get offered tickets at 10am, but didn't like the seats offered. Later in the day they put more seats on sale (I guess house seats or unsold premium), I got central fifth row, which is one of the best seats in the building - extra leg room, slightly raised and just far back enough to not have your view blocked by the hand or get singed from the pyro. The theatre wasn't full, but it was a good atmosphere and a well behaved crowd.

I've read lots of views on other groups regarding the tweaks to this show in the last week, so went to see for myself today. Its in good shape, i didn't miss either song, and I prefer the way Raven dispatches the car now. Nothing beats the original car going in the orchestra pit, but she no longer removes the engine as took place earlier in the tour - the new method is funnier, though sacrifices the band interaction. All-in-all, still a bonkers daft show, and the refinements suit the scalability required for a tour, though undoubtedly those who saw it in the Coliseum/Dominion might feel shortchanged. Current Strat and Raven are excellent though Sharon Sexton absolutely owns this show. Wonderful to see her back playing Sloane.

Forgot to add, aside from the show, the Peacock Theatre is FILTHY. The loo floor quarry tiles look like they need resealing or replacing, the theatre smells musty, and the DUST... Seats AL1,2,3 - a little slip/box area was caked in dust. I even wrote "Bat Out Of Dust" in the film of dust that covered the wooden surface of the audience facing edge. From dress circle height, the floor of the stalls looked like old pub carpet. Is it too much to ask that theatres are cleaned and dusted? If I were on stage or crew, I would worry about my health working in such a sh1tty environment for seven weeks.

Saw the Matinee this afternoon and how many confetti cannons do you need!?
I didn't feel a connection with any characters and felt it needed an introduction to explain what was going on like they did with We Will Rock You.
Maybe it would be better in a bigger setting like its previous London homes, I felt the set was poor and cheap.
I think we had quite a few understudies on this afternoon and I don't think it will be a fave Musical of mine, I would rather listen to the Meatloaf BOOH album!

Today Tix are doing a mighty fine 24 hour offer on Bat for selected dates - tickets between £15 - £45, and there are some really good stalls seats included in the deal. It's a silly show with a great cast and some good loud Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf tracks to be enjoyed. The theatre has even been cleaned so is no longer caked in dust - it was an entirely pleasant experience at the weekend, and I will be going back a couple more times. The band alone is worth the entrance money, but this cast really is strong. Go and buy a ticket if only to hear Katie Tonkinson's (Valkyrie) section of "Objects in the Rear View Mirror" which is the best I have ever heard. My previous best was Kellie Gnauck, who is now probably the best Raven I have seen/heard. Glenn Adamson's Strat absolutely makes this show. Just a few reasons (along with the great ticket offer) to go and see this ridiculous but brilliant show before it finishes its run.

One week to go to see this in London - still love this show despite its flaws! One bugbear though: Iestyn Griffiths is clearly a hugely talented Musical Director and I'm not sure how much of the music is automated, but sitting scrolling through a mobile phone on and off throughout the show is not good form. I'm not familiar with orchestra pit etiquette, so if it is usual for the MD to go on their phone mid-performance then shoot me down, but it is very off-putting. The band is part of the show - especially this one!

The singalong last week was great fun, and I’m so pleased we get to have another one this week before the show closes.
There’s a few rumours flying around about a tour in 2024 but as there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete and the previously announced tour from September 2023 was pulled this may be it for a good while from Bat. I’m going to make the most of this last week but do wish it had sat down in town for a bit longer than 6 weeks as it’s been great having it back.

I made what will be my final visit to the show last Wednesday (hopefully not my final ever visit, but that depends if this tours or not). Lots of covers on, although they make it very difficult to find this out, but this certainly included Jay Anderson as Jagwire. I also had a narrow escape as I avoided the Singalong performance.
Rob Fowler and Sharon Sexton are the highlights of course, as they just match each other so perfectly. It wasn't a full house and I got an excellent central Stalls seat in the premium section, but I expect it will be rather busy this week.
