Always amused me that Norma gets a day off replacement, a standby and an understudy, while Joe who has far more work to do gets naff all! (I do know he will have understudies, but they never get a mention.) It's that thing that's dogged Sunset from the start - sometimes to it's detriment- that it is very much viewed as a "star vehicle" show - despite Joe being an as big, if not bigger role. (Admittedly he only has one big solo, but still...) It's interesting that since the World Premiere when Patti LuPone and Kevin Anderson received equal billing, I don't think that's ever happened again, or that there's even been an attempt to get an "A -lister" for Joe (apart from Hugh Jackman in Australia)

"Huge" Jackman was not an A lister when he did Sunset. He was unknown outside of Australia, and was only known in theatre and TV circles. (He didn't do any West End work until after Sunset)
X Men was his international/film breakthrough - in 2000.

I know it’s not possible, but humour me for a minute Imagine if this was a scene for the act two opening number? Tom on Times Square with Norma on every screen

Love this! Can't wait for October! Still haven't found any other shows I want to watch on my last day in NYC. I'm seriously considering a third Sunset visit in two days :-)

The pic is stunning but is it real? I'd say most definitely photoshop as there'd be a lot more general buzz on it if it'd been real?

Thanks for sharing that! I'm seriously pumped for this As to the question about how possible the Sunset Blvd Ad take over of Times Square would be? Very... They do it pretty often now with all those new displays and screens for all kinds of events. And I think the suggestion of "that's norma desmond... that's norma desmond..." with Tom Francis singing is very likely to be a commercial. Especially after seeing that video of Jamie Lloyd and Nicole talking about coming to Broadway - you get the sense they are going to do a maniacal campaign for this

I can’t wait to see what they have in-store for New York. The pressure is on to prove that its worth the London hype, and I’m sure they’ll be ramping up the crazy in the lead up. It doesn’t need changing, so I guess the advertising is what they have to play with.

Seems that SeatGeek have released a few stalls seats either side of the VIP ones, at least for the end of October when I'm there.

Just found out the access code NORMA1 offers a discount.
(“Offer valid on purchases before 10/19/24 for performances 9/30/24 – 7/6/25.”)

Though where I am looking the 4 seats either side of the central aisles (16 seats in total) still very much off sale in rows E to L! I do wish they would materialise somewhere!

I’ve tried it for a few different tickets/performances but can’t get any discount, despite it saying “NORMA1 enabled”. Do you know if this restricted to specific days/seats?

I phoned SeatGeek, but they didn’t give me any clues as to what was happening. They just said they weren’t available. I believe the theatre box office opened this week so had hoped more seats would appear. But no.

Have to say in sweeping general terms (and in my admittedly limited Broadway experience) discount codes generally don't work or don't get you much of a reduction. Really the only meaningful discounts are Rush/Lottery etc on day - and that's sadly not a risk I wanna take if travelling from UK. Overall adding in cost of NYC hotels, it's an insanely expensive mini break.

Overall adding in cost of NYC hotels, it's an insanely expensive mini break. I'm currently holding off just so I can see more shows than Sunset AGAIN to justify that price. I've seen NYC enough that the only condition I'd be going again in the next few years would be to just see shows, nothing else.

Personally am hoping a Cats transfer will be announced and I can combine Cats, Tammy Faye and Sunset in one trip. That would be epic! There's nothing else over there that we don't have here that I really want to see.
