This is very sad. She had to pull out of Old Friends which was due to start in September, so whatever it was must have been sudden. Last saw her as the Prue Leith character in GBBO The Musical, but she was great in everything, even when the material wasn't.

Did a double take when I just heard it on the radio.
So sad. 😭

I'm quite shocked to read this. It seems so quick, considering she presumably must have been in reasonable health until just before she pulled out of Old Friends, & that was only a few weeks ago.

What a shock. Just popped up on my phone. Last time I also saw her was GBBO musical. Such a young age too.

As I said in the Old Friends thread this is desperately sad. She was just wonderful. What a shock.

Very sad news. As n1david said she was always great no matter what she was in.

First saw her on stage in 1995 in the RSC Peer Gynt with Alex Jennings. Last saw her 2018 in The Way of the World at the Donmar.

The most Hadyn Gwynne iconic role for me is Camilla in The Windsors. You have to wonder if they will have to recast the role,

A brilliant talent with razor-sharp timing and a wonderful singing voice. Memorable in everything she was in, from Nice Work to City of Angels to Women on the Verge... to The Windsors. And her Christmas episode of Drop the Dead Donkey is one of the funniest episodes of a British sitcom ever made.
RIP. 66 is no age at all.

Such a tragic loss. R.I.P. Haydn. Such a talent and so lovely when we met you after the gala last year.

Such sad news, the first thing I can remember her in was Nice Work which SF has mentioned. A former classmate had a cameo in it and the next morning he got on the bus looking around in case anyone recognised him. She was great in Drop the Dead Donkey just after that, I cannot remember if she left Drop the Dead Donkey to return to stage or to have a family.
But such a tragic loss as she was still at the top of her game and could do drama, comedy, musicals the lot. Must have been very sudden too given she was in stuff right up until having to step back from Old Friends.
Saw her on stage a few times most recently at RSC.

So sudden and so young. It only seems weeks since I saw her cartwheeling across the stage in GBBO and stealing the show.
A fantastic actor.

On TV I remember her in the David Lodge adaptation Nice Work in 1989. It was her first prominent role.

Such a great loss of a tremendous talent. I saw her in City of Angels and of course she stole the show surrounded by a terrific cast. When Billy Elliot opened she made you forget Julie Walters had ever been Mrs Wilkinson, no easy task at the time. There have been some lovely tributes online, Ian McKellen remembering dancing with her for days in the finale of Beauty and the Beast, and Lauren Molina's Instagram (lomo212) has some lovely pics and memories of the production of A Little Night Music they did together.

City of Angels was a real treat. Brilliant cast, classy production.
What you don't know about women and You can always count on me have remained favourite numbers of mine - in large part because of Haydn's performance

Her Oolie (and THAT rendition of YCACOM) remain one of the best performances I’ve ever been lucky enough to have seen. Such a devastating loss to the industry & everyone close to her. #RIP

I'm so shocked by this - I saw her twice this year, once in the Bake Off musical, and then in July in When Winston... at The Donmar. She was terrific in both productions - in very different roles.

Terribly sad news. I consider myself lucky to have seen her several times on stage in City of Angels, Billy Elliot, The Audience, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and The Threepenny Opera. She always delivered excellent performances. Such a tragic loss
