I always thought Lee had a good mop of hair so when he was on TV talking about his hair transplant it surprised me. But if it made him feel happier that is the main thing.

Has he got a deep, soul voice? Not unless his hair transplant did something strange to his voicebox.

We are going down to London from the North west today to see it and see the great Lizzie Bea (we are big fans of her).
Saw the tour in Manchester a few weeks ago so will be seeing if there are any new bits in the London show.

I’ve never heard him! What is he best known for? Also the most boring man on the planet when interviewed. That photo of him is hysterical.

Well we are back now from London and last nights show and have to say it just gets better and better.
1st time seeing the London show but knocks the Tour show out of the water.
Beverley is just out of this world and Lizzie Bea just gets better and better and great that Alfie Parker who plays eddie in the tour was watching last night on his week off from the tour.
Clive Rowe is very funny and well Ruth what can i say about our Ruth she is also funny and the part fits her well.
Lesley Joseph seems so happy in her new role and was she really hanging off a rope on stage or was it my eyes!!!!
A couple of little things added into the London show that are not in the Tour which is good and great to see a full house and i have to say they have to keep the run going after Aug as its a great show and seems to have done very well since opening in London but know they can not do that at the Dominion as a new show starts in Sept.
Sound is so much better as well.
we have seen it 4 times now and yes we will be back to see the London show and also the tour.

I’ve never heard him! What is he best known for? He won the TV search - Any dream will do - for the 2007 Joseph that played at the Adelphi. He has since done a fair quota of pantos including Cinderella at the Palladium, Wicked,Legally Blonde and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang appeared in Casualty and the now defunked Holby City and married (and divorced) Denise Van Outen.

Just struggle with how boring he is when I’ve seen him interviewed. Good on him though for managing to still have a career.

Saw this on Thursday and loved it. TBH, I saw it at The Eventim Apollo (with Beverley and Jennifer Saunders) in 2022 and loved it too. {Spoiler - click to view} At my performance, just before Ruth sings her song in her dressing gown, someone wolf-whistles and Ruth reacts with an "Oooh!" as an homage to Gavin & Stacey. Does anyone know if the wolf-whistle is pre-recorded or was I lucky and her reaction was genuine?

The wolf whistle definitely is prerecorded but only added to the enjoyment of this glorious evening.

Does anyone know if they’ve recorded the cast recording yet? I noticed that Natalia Brown put something up on her stories which hinted they started recording but there’s been no news on their social medias.

Hoping to catch Bev in this for tomorrow’s matinee. I assume she is scheduled for all performances?

Delicate question - when the powers that be decide to record a show, what do they do if one of the cast isn't the greatest singer but has mainly been cast for their name/star power? I know that most "original casts" are the ones that get recorded and will generally be decent singers, but in this case... not everyone is the greatest singer, however fun they are in the show. Not sure if that's how I'd want my musical to be remembered on record for all eternity.

Is the cast album a definite? It seems a little odd to launch a cast album and a couple of weeks later have a different Deloris take over. AB is already in rehearsals.
The instruments in the version of Fabulous Baby which was released didn’t sound amazing to me (Bev did of course)- I hope it’s a better version on the final recording if there is one.

I love the original cast recording but I think it’s time for a new album with the Broadway changes. Of course I know people aren’t that fuss with It’s Good To Be A Nun but it will be nice to have a recording of I Haven’t Got A Prayer. Also I remember Natalie Brown (who plays Tina) put something up on her Instagram stories of a recording studio. That above confirmed for me that they are doing a new cast recording.

I was listening to an episode of Musicaltalk podcast with Alan Menken and he pretty much said there was a new cast recording coming soon so I'm assuming it must be happening. I'm hoping to try and catch this next time I'm in london enjoyed it on your last year and it's just good fun.

Also I’m not sure if anyone knows this but I’m a bit confused with the cast change. When they announced the next cast on their social media Tricia Deighton is still listed as Sister Mary Theresa but she’s not on the website. Is she leaving after June 8th or staying on? I know Mary Theresa isn’t a major character but I thought it was odd that Tricia was on the cast on the social media pages but not on the website. The same goes to Anne Smith.

I can’t say this is one of my favourite musicals but I’m quite happy to see Beverley Knight in any role. She did not disappoint. Although Alan Menken’s score didn’t quite offer Bev the freedom to match the vocal heights she reached in Sylvia last year, her star quality really does elevate any show.
The big ensemble moments are worth the admission fee (in my case, a rush ticket) alone. Raise Your Voice, Take Me To Heaven and Fabulous, Baby! are all great soul songs and Bev’s vocals sound incredible on them. I think I have been lucky to see both her and Sandra Marvin in the role of Deloris.
It’s a fun musical, albeit with a pretty ropey book. It doesn’t really matter though. It’s been parachuted into the Dominion with a cast to put bums of seats for a few months and it seems to be capable of doing it. Ruth Jones made for a decent Mother Superior, with the not-so-subtle Welsh references and well-timed ‘Ow!’ only adding to what is essentially a pseudo-pantomime of a production.
Lemar was… OK. He hit the notes but he’s no actor, is he? Our Bev aside, it was once again Lizzie Bea who provided the highlight of this matinee performance with her electric rendition of The Life I Never Led. What a voice.
Clive Rowe was what you’d expect as Steady Eddie. He sounded grew but I do think this show could lose a good 20-30 minutes and, to be honest, cutting the subplot romance between Deloris and Eddie would probably be the easiest way to do that.
So, yes; hardly a life-changing musical theatre experience but £30 to spend a couple of hours watching Beverley Knight belt out some genuinely great numbers? Go on then. I’d love to see her originate more roles in the future though (or just bring back Sylvia!!!).
Three stars.

I wonder if a film version of the musical could happen. Cynthia Erivo played the role on stage - Whoopi as the Mother Superior does this make too much sense?

I need an official recording of Cynthia singing the score. Such a shame we didn’t get one. Mother Superior; they’d probably get the latest comedy thing in, or Olivia Colman. I’m not sure who could be as good as Maggie Smith and sing the role.

Does anyone think since this production is going to the Netherlands and Australia this year that it might have a revival on Broadway? I hope so because I think this production will be good on Broadway.
