Good points Karloscar, I agree people will vote for a personal favourite or someone they like on the series having seen their dances and promo pieces. Stars from TV programmes often have their cast mates, co presenters getting behind them. When a personal favourite goes out then if there is a natural 2nd favourite votes may go there, people may stop voting.
But as you say do some people potentially just vote on the best dances in their view and if they do this weekly than their votes could change across the whole series or if they start doing this when a personal favourite celeb or dancer has gone out.

Really not convinced with Layton dancing as Rizzo this evening.
I am a huge drag fan but he isn't a drag performer. He has played a drag character on stage. There is a difference.
When Courtney Act did the Australian version, it was a legitimate choice for some weeks to be Courtney and some weeks to be his boy persona.
This doesn't feel the same

I know that Jody isn't a dancer but that Up routine was very, very touching. I cried

So funny and perfectly choreographed to capture that tv series. Is Angela Scanlon the dark horse?

A pretty mixed week in terms of quality
And a totally random set of scores
There is no doubting the quality of Angela and Carlos but that was not a Charleston. It was too close to the original with a bit of swivel.
Eddie did not deserve a 10
Amanda showed great flexibility Annabel danced nicely Angela R is showing her limitations.
Nigel was under marked
Nikita was over marked and should go. I can't see any reason to keep her any longer.
Zara was forgettable.
KGM was also over marked.
Jody touched me and probably should have taken this week off. But I believe he deserves to stay.
I did like Ellie - she is a real contender if she continues to improve as she has done

Nigel - I didn’t think he was great tonight, the jive wasn’t his kind of dance. Angela R - I didn’t think there was much quickstep in there at all. Zara - She’s getting marginally better, but I’m not sure she will reach that next level in a short amount of time. Layton - Far too punchy for a Viennese Waltz, needs to relax and be softer. Angela - I thought she was great and definitely one of the strongest, but maybe doesn’t get as much credit as she deserves (apart from the scores tonight). Amanda - Deserved a higher score a think, but maybe just lacked a bit of fluidity with the rumba in certain parts, felt a bit jazz hands in bits. Nikita - Just seems to be going backwards now, just can’t dance at all. Ellie - She’s brilliant, and again I think goes under the radar slightly. Bobby - He was really good, but I don’t think it was his best week, I feel like he needs to work on his arms a bit. Jody - I know he had leg issues this week, but he was hunched over and his frame was all over the place. I think he might be bottom 2 this week. Eddie - Absolutely no way a 10, not even an 8. I hate couples choice, Shirley, Craig and Anton don’t have a clue how to score street dance. I thought this was very average. The 10 is very very odd. Annabel - She was brilliant and I had no idea why her score was as low as it was?? Adam - I thought his kicks and retraction were really bad, so I have no idea what the judges were watching? He’s average at best. Krishnan - I thought he was great, and to be honest he’s been really good every week, I think the judges aren’t calling him out enough on how well he’s doing. He’s better than a few of the other men.

It's funny that those having a hissy fit online about Layton dancing in feminine attire failed to notice that both Katya and Luba were in drag too! Luba even had a moustache! Less annoying than previous movie weeks where the costumes and concepts can lead to a dip in dance quality. Angela and Carlos did brilliantly though the routine did borrow heavily from the Gwen Verdon original. Ellie and Vito seem to be the most consistent performers so far, always coming up with imaginative routines that merit rewatching.

I think the difference was that Luba and Katya were essentially playing cartoon characters which gives greater leeway. They were not attempting a form of realism.
Layton was trying to be Rizzo. And was let down, in large part, by a poor costume design, dreadful wig and badly executed make up.
In a same sex partnership, I want to see them dancing as a same sex couple. Yes, it was different for Courtney Act as I said earlier. But Layton isn't a drag performer. He is an actor who has performed drag characters.
I appreciate that this is just my preference.

I've still got to watch tonight's show but just looking at the stills Layton's Rizzo costume was terrible. He really needed the black and white stripped top and the shades. I'm not really sure what he looked like but it certainly wasn't Rizzo like to me. When I read they were doing this number I thought he would drag up and it was the right thing to do in the context of the song choice.
I would like to have seen a drag act do Strictly like when The Vivienne did Dancing On Ice. Layton has played drag characters on stage so him dragging up I thought would happen. But next time please get him a better costume.
With same sex partnerships one has to dance more of the female or male role otherwise all couples could just throw the rulebook out of the window and let the pros lead.

Layton may not be a drag performer but he made clear in interviews before the show began that he wanted the costumes to reflect the fact that he tends to be quite fluid in his choice of clothing rather than conforming to gender stereotypes. Having said that, the choices made for Rizzo were less than satisfactory, the skirt seemed too long and the wig and makeup didn't provide a flattering look. John and Johannes would quite often switch between leading and following within one dance without any apparent problems, in fact it was one of the things that made their routines interesting. I can't see any reason why that couldn't work for Nikita and Layton too, although they do have a different dynamic.

It would have been far preferable to have adopted the pedal pusher look that Rizzo has in the film. That would have fitted a gender fluid approach and have been true to the character and the song.
But the inappropriate skirt (both on terms of length and styling) combined with the very bad hair and make up was very poor work by the creative team.

Layton's skirt didn't look anything like they wore in Grease. I agree the pedal pushers would have been original.

The amount of hours training and rehearsal the professionals have to put in as well as countless media appearances and publicity compared to the judges' undemanding schedule means they're on a pretty poor hourly rate comparatively speaking.

Pros straight 35k to 50k per series plus another 35k for the tour if chosen. But outside of this they can do their own shows, appearances and all the spin offs - dance lessons, video messages, pantos, merchandise.
Celebs 25k to start with goes up to 40k if they make it to week 4, goes up to 60k if they make Blackpool then it says 75k for Semi Final and Winner gets 100k.
Judges rumoured money Shirley 500k, CRH 200k, Motsi 200k and Anton 180k. If these are correct Shirley being on 2.5 times what Craig who is an original is on surprises me. There might be a premium for being head judge and if she did extra promotion for the show and maybe more It Takes Two appearances as Craig is doing Annie on tour so only has one day commitment a week to the show.

The young woman sitting behind Craig looked bored for the whole two hours. It's probably the longest she's ever gone without her phone!
Without looking at the spoiler thread, it's Nikita's week to leave, isn't it? Slightly unfair that she had the Charleston and jive in successive weeks.

Literally every time Craig was giving his comments she was doing something different - but none of them was looking interested in what was being said. And to think how highly sought after those studio audience tickets are!

I watched this on catch-up this morning.
Firstly, I think we can all agree that hair/make-up/costumes were outstanding!
It's great to see then all improving.
I couldn't help but notice, when they finish- the men in particular- all so sweaty! Give those guys a towel!
After taking a knock being in the dance-off it was good to see all the judges being encouraging, trying to lift her spirits.
The past two week Amanda was worn a wig and, personally, I think on each occasion she looks better for it.
I couldn't help but think the pros have week to teach the routine to the celebrities. With time taken out for work commitments, appearing on It Takes Two, filming the VT's and doing whatever they have to do in their personal lives- it doesn't leave a heck of a lot of time.

How Shirley Ballas has elevated herself to that level astounds me. I think she’s bloody awful.

Shirley was chosen as head judge so I'd say the BBC are responsible for hiring her. I agree she isn't a patch on the late great Len. But if the Beeb removed her they would be done for sexism, ageism etc. Ever since she cocked up the Danceathon scoring one year and Bruno had to get her out of the hole, I've not been keen on her either.
