Im going to see Headlong's production of this soon but I'm not familiar with any of the series it's considered a part of.
Is there anything that would help me to know going in?

Falstaff and Henry used be pals but Henry rejected him when he was crowned. It's not a major point and Falstaff doesn't appear, but he's discussed in an emotionally poignant scene

It’s the one where Henry and pals are sent on assignment to Miami Beach. Just enjoy the nice weather…
Oh sorry, that’s Police Academy!
I’m going to see it next week in Worthing.

I saw this version at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse recently. They added some scenes from Henry IV part 2 at the start, showing H4's death and H5's accession. That should give you enough context on how H5 fits into the wider picture, but you could read a summary of the earlier plays if you want more info. The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has good basic summaries of all the plays: www.shakespeare.org.uk/explore-shakespeare/shakespedia/shakespeares-plays/

Oh I didn't think much of this. Strange choices all round in many of the creative decisions lead to an ultimately distracting and jarring production of what felt like it could be an heavy and poignant play. The bright teal-green stage left the characters exposed and underminded for the sake of one line, a moment that almost missed it's hit. To me this production didn't know when, where or what it was and any value as such was completely missing.
