I’m probably the only Spike The Play fan here but I’m massively disappointed it hasn’t been nominated for anything (Especially when Good Luck Studio has, which had a far smaller run and much less positive response from critics).
Also is ‘A Different Stage’ the Gary Barlow tour show? If it is then why is it nominated for best play when it’s a musical? (If it’s a different show then I apologise, but I can’t find anything else under that name)

As usual some very odd nominations and omissions

I reckon Tammy Faye, Good and Prime Facie will sweep it.
Interesting that David Tennant and Jodie Comer are up against each other.

This is fan voted so expect those with big following on the socials to do well.
No way Legally Blonde should be nominated for best musical revival, nor My Fair lady in my view. Seen both and there were much better shows. No Sister Act or Beauty and the Beast is surprising although was Beauty eligible as the tour opened last year but Palladium was this year? Perhaps someone would confirm?

Just voted but several categories I skipped as I had not seen any of the shows (mainly plays) in that particular category. I don't believe in voting if I haven't seen anything in that category, although I know WOS is more of a popularity contest. Hardest category was the one when both Jeremy Jordan and Sondheim Gala Concert were nominated. I enjoyed them both equally but went for JJ in the end as I have a soft spot for him.

It's hard to take the awards seriously when they're so clearly led by whoever has lots of social media followers. It's not that I don't think the popular vote should count for something. There's often awards that I think are hugely out of touch with what audiences have felt. But a performer with a huge social media following winning because they've begged all their fans (many of whom likely won't have even seen the show in question) to vote isn't it either.

That ghastly Legally Blonde was voted for best revival and yet Into the Woods wasn’t, do me a favour… Shows the voting demographic for this LOL

To be honest, I wouldn't be too cross if Legally Blonde won if that's genuinely a reflection on what people saw and liked. It wouldn't get my vote (still traumatised from those dogs, and many other reasons) but if it's really what people liked best then so be it. I don't think there was any particularly popular performer in the cast with a rabid fanbase to weight it (was there?), so it gives an insight into what's actually popular. Into The Woods wouldn't have reached such a wide audience in the location it was so not really a fair comparison.

Twitter is absolutely deluged with women tweeting, “I’ve voted for Gary Barlow 87 times!! Keep voting girls, we have to get our Gary a win!”
I make no editorial comment on this.

Legally Blonde had three Ex Six queens with fans who will vote even if they haven’t seen it! And all the ex-queens old ex-queen friends will get their followers to vote for the ex-queens shows etc. I won’t be surprised if Legally Blonde gets more votes than people who saw the show!

But if me, I just meant numbers of follower as the rabid fanbase, not people voting multiple times (though I'm sure they'll find a way if they want to, it doesn't look particularly robust to me).

These audience vote awards will never work. Too many factors that make it a popularity contest.
More than 99% of people will have seen 1 or 2 shows and liked the show or a performer previously. They are a waste of time in my opinion.
I guess it gives WhatsOnStage the opportunity to put on a show. That's just about all they'll do. You can't base any sort of judgement by the results of this thing.

Legally Blonde wasn’t amazing but in my opinion Lauren Drew was a standout as Brook (Whipped Into Shape was a standout of the entire show), so I was pleased to see her nominated for best supporting

confused by this too. I wouldn't have classed it as a play or a musical though so I don't know what kind of category it would have better fit under. I don't think concert either.

I’ve just seen Cock has won best play revival. I know online polls like this tend to go to whoever has the biggest internet fanbase, but still… 🤯

It’s simple. The shows with famous people in it just win everything. It’s a joke of an awards ceremony.

The WOS Awards make the NTAs look like the BAFTAs.

And weirdly scheduled on the same day as the Offie Awards. Some of the WOS nominees skipped the ceremony and went to the Offies instead.
