She really is NOT scary Very sharp lady dynamic And interested in variety of theatre And diversity in theatre Tends to pick shows up early has her finger on the pulse As outlined above by examples including The Nether I get the impression CM more interested in running a profit and tends to support and produce more frigid theatre CM does not seem to produce plays very often But she is doing it on the cheap?

Are STC productions good bad or uneven or the most part?

Can't say I disagree with any of their comments. I saw it in Sydney and felt pretty much the same - dull, boring & convolutedly pointless for the most part. The first 20 minutes drag on until Richard Roxburgh makes his entrance & wakes everyone up for a bit. It wouldn't have been my choice of the STC's recent productions to take to Broadway ( certainly their recent All My Sons, Suddenly Last Summer and The Secret River have been far superior) , but of course they are using the lure of Cate Blanchett to get bums on seats. I understand that but why not another production with her in it.

Because The Truman Show was an original idea and story created for a film and there's no reason that writers of musical theatre shouldn't be imaginative and intelligent enough to create their own original ideas and stories that will be far more effective than stories we've heard/seen numerous times before. true that is true. But its Broadway it has to be for the mass market.

Because its a satire and satire goes well in theater. Talks about real world issues. I also believe it talks about consumerism and current state of media.

Yes, I saw it in Sydney. I'm not a huge fan of Chekov nor Cate Blanchett, but I would watch Richard Roxburgh read out the phone book! Why she is an excellent actor. Her performance in Blue Jasmine was something to be hold. And the fact she did this in a small theater company says something bout her. sorry the bottom sentence is mine
