Everyone I know really loves Waitress. I watched the film and was fairly horrified with the subplot where a woman is convinced to go out on a date with a man who'd stalked her, and the fairly trite ending to the main plot too. I listened to a couple of the songs from the musical and there's a slight country tinge to the songs and I hate country music with a passion. I'm currently hoping that if a transfer happens I won't have to go see it with my friends who already love it because no one wants to be that person. Oops.

Either way, it feels wrong.

My decision process for whether I leave a show at the interval or not is "would I pay half the ticket price to not have to sit through the second act." I always stay if it's a freebie, no matter how dire.
Arriving late is sometimes completely unavoidable but I try my best to avoid it. There's nothing worse than being late beyond your control.

Just read the interview with Gabreila Garcia on Broadway.com who said that she initially got turned down for this show for being 'not latina enough' even though she IS latina. Now correct me if I'm wrong but Sam Mackay isn't latino at all, is he? Once more the casting of this show confuses me. You're correct, he isn't. He performs the role very well but his casting baffles me, especially when there was uproar at a white performer being cast as Usnavi in a regional US production and not a whisper about London.

Lovely quiet dayseat queue for tonight, getting tickets for a friend who's come over from New Zealand so hopefully she'll enjoy the front row view.

I noticed the ROH have replaced their day seats with a Friday rush scheme with 49 tickets per performance in the upcoming week going on sale at 1pm Friday. Will take a look to see what they have this week!

I have circle (middle back) for the anniversary performance but for my raffle win tickets in October I've been given row D in the stalls! Looking forward to seeing the difference from each view, especially since I haven't seen Wicked in many years.

Was anyone else surrounded by friends/family of the cast or just me? It was quite fun to eavesdrop!

Glad this thread has popped up. Walking down St Martin's Lane today, there seems to be a newish Indian Restaurat next to Jamie's Italian called the 'Dish Room', it always seems popular as when I went past today and many times recently, there is always a line outside. Has anyone been in there? Because I opt to see a lot of theatre, I cannot be so flamboyant in my eating tastes, but I love Pret A Manger and Caffe Nero. Yea I mentioned it above, it's called Dishoom and styles itself as a "classical Bombay cafe". www.dishoom.com/I LOVE the place, as it's not your typical cliche Indian with stiff white tableclothes and waiters in starched shirts but really more like a laid-back cafe with young staff and nice decorations. The food is great too, albeit on the expensive side and they have "real" Indian drinks like Limca lemonade. The black daal is to die for. Unless you go in the middle of the afternoon between the lunch and dinner rushes it's nearly impossible to just walk in and sit down for a meal. I wish there were more Indians like that in Theatreland. I love Dishoom! Worth noting they have another branch right by the King's Cross theatre. I do try to go a little on the early side for a table there, just after whatever show ends and you should be fine!

Found a new one to add to my list today- Canela in Covent Garden (just by seven dials) was a lovely little Portuguese place with a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. Definitely going back there!

I thought Eva has been tentaviley to open on Broadway. Yes, but only doing the opening of the tour before Broadway. When does the tour open? A few months after the Broadway run, so I don't think that's feasible.

I've found with the Old Vic system to just use the "choose for me" function in situations like this. It grabs you a seat wherever in your price band and while it might not be perfect it's better than nothing. I rejected the initial seat it gave me for row X on the circle sides though, I have to admit! Changed my price band and got a row B LB circle seat instead.

PHEW got a £30 seat in the circle. After missing out on the PWC preview seats, deciding to wait until reviews as there was so much to see then seeing it all sold out! Extra dayseats popped up online prior to opening night so banked on that but never saw any do that after opening! But phew. Last minute but actually going to see this!

You know when someone leans so far forwards they're blocking the view of a handful of people in the next two rows. I asked politely to not lean so much in the next act so the five or six of us could see some of the stage but was ignored when it came to act two. Fostered some nice nosebleed seat solidarity with those of us who heard the play instead of seeing it! Think before you lean!

I'm not surprised, some of the previous replacement cast members had barely any rehearsal and if they had any before their first performance it wasn't with the full cast. They're not very organised it seems...

I pick mine by which theatre I'm closest to, I'll go for Ma Plucker's (chicken restaurant) if I'm in soho - the prices are so cheap and a lot of decent food for it. They also do a fantastic alcoholic iced tea.

Judging by Mark Shenton's article in The Stage today it was (as I suspected) already a policy for Cameron Mackintosh which is just being enforced now. It'll die down.
RE: the above quoted tweet, it was really easy to find out what those days are.

I go to stage door sometimes, depending on how much I liked the performance. One actor I saw deal with dramas remarkably well was Gemma Arterton, she told the autograph hunter crowd (you know, haven't seen the show but turned up with their binders of glossy press stills to hawk on eBay) that she was going to sign for people who'd seen the show first and foremost. Then when someone presented her with a paparazzi bikini shot she tore it in two, put it in her bag and told them that was "disgusting" and went to chat to her fans a little more. What a pro at dealing with awkward situations!

Dex Lee is fantastic casting but not even that will make me go see Grease! Haven't been wowed by the last few Curve musicals either to be honest.

It's a sell-well/sell-very-well but not always a sell-out, but that's more than enough to keep it where it is!

Lin has already seen it at Southwark although there are of course slight difference such as some cast members and the staging. I thought he hadn't... seem to remember he came to London just after it closed. Could be wrong though! His parents have seen both Southwark and King's Cross.

He's in the audience. Unfortunately so are a large amount of immature fan girls singing along and hyperventilating at the excitement of it all. Shouldn't they be at Wicked?! The hysteria online is exhausting enough, God knows what it's like in person. Glad I went yesterday!

I'd love Victoria to come back as Daniela. I love her so much! Murder Ballad is from September through December so it couldn't happen I'm afraid. I'd be intrigued to see her though, I must say. As I love Philippa so much in that role, I would want to see what Victoria was like!
Damn it Philippa, why sign up for Rent?! Just stay with this show!
Then again I suppose it is a much bigger role that could really raise her profile even further and, in my opinion, the best role in Rent!
VHB played the role as Philippa has since, pretty much. I saw Philippa's first show as Daniela and she has developed it a bit since but she's not really done much different imo. Sometimes when the cast is low in numbers I feel like Philippa overacts to compensate which is a little jarring to watch. I understand the reaction but it was a little offputting as an audience member. Haven't seen a full cast show in a while though so will be looking to replace those memories this week! Anyone here going to see the last couple of shows this week?

I turned up about 8:50 in January and got offered a back of stalls seat for the day seats if that helps at all. There were a lot of people ahead of me.

This is already the policy with other shows in London, eg Book of Mormon don't advertise but do post on the day/are happy to tell anyone in person. I wonder if the new Les Mis cast were just advised to dial it down with advance advertising online. I think this has been blown a little out of proportion anyway!
