I think considering the massive tumbleweed that blew through the ceremony last year when they debuted 'The Little Mermaid' trailer, which by all means appealed to the children and gays watching at home, wasn't particularly relevant for those attending, it was better to not have this exclusive.

This one sank without a trace? It had such good reviews too. Alas, it's been 5 years already.. I loved this, it was great fun. As I recall it had a cast of about 42, which might pose a challenge for a more commercial-minded producer. There is no way that a play which originated in the Minerva at Chichester had a cast of 42. Do you mean 42 characters with lots of doubling up?

Mr. B said the Gielgud in the fall and he hasn’t failed us yet… I don't think you'd ever catch him using the term "in the fall".

It's not King Charles III having been rewritten as King William V, is it?

In the past week: Cate Blanchett at Dorian Grey Cate Blanchett at Hadestown Cate Blanchett at Enemy Of The People. I think Cate Blanchett might be stalking me... You are a very lucky human! I think she was over for the BAFTAs. She lives near Crowborough, doesn't she? Not far to travel.

Next show at the Trafalgar theatre is "the return of one of the best new plays of the century". Any ideas? The History Boys? Could this be a transfer of the Hampstead's 'Rock'n'Roll'? They said it was one of their best selling shows ever.

Is this the one that was at Chichester? Adaptation, yes. Production, no.

I really can't fathom sleeping with somebody old enough to be my grandfather.
Larry Lamb being the exception, of course.

She was a proper disco diva early 80s which was my era so I relate more to her as a pop singer than actress. I wish I had got to see her in City Of Angels but the musical got pulled just before i was due to see it. Plus Save the Best for Last remains an absolutely top song to sing along to in the car, even if some people only associate it with Bisto ads. 😂 In my head I get the adverts mixed up, were both 'Save the Best For Last' & 'Get Here' by Oleta Adams both used for gravy granules?

This is touring towards the end of the year and early next year, it’s at The Alex 28 Jan to 1 Feb 2025, it will be interesting to see who’s cast as Poirot It's using the same adaptation but it's a different production - Lucy Bailey directing, as she has just done the 'And Then There Were None' tour. Jonathan Church directed the Henry Goodman CFT/TRB one. Does that mean we should have a new thread?

Recognised all of them and have seen several of them either in stage or in the audience, but where is Dame Maggie? I don't think she gets out of bed for less than 30k a pop.

It's funny how Floella Benjamin and Twiggy get to coat-tail on these renowned thesp gatherings because they're Dames who have acted but I'm sure they're both great fun to have around.
I think Keith, Lipman, Lumley and McKenna's d-hoods have been more influenced by their charity work - wonderful performers they all are but I think there's a whole different category of esteem for the likes of Dench, Walter et al.

I think it's pretty solid but maybe a bit reliant on adaptations of popular novels.
Looking forward to some Pinter in the Minerva & I think the Rolling Stones play by Charlotte Jones could be fun.
Glad the Oliver! cast isn't what we'd feared.

The editor of WhatsOnStage just posted that he’s setting his alarm for early tomorrow morning. Must’ve missed this! Do you have a link? He might have a Doctor's appointment! The prior tweet was regarding 'Slave Play' so maybe that's coming too. But Chichester is also being announced tomorrow, so he's got that on his mind no doubt...

Christmas '22 was Streetcar, so not necessarily. You're confusing them with Sheffield Crucible, dear. Sorry, I was meant to be quoting showtoones there.

I’m not familiar with this play at all but Jodie Comer posted it on her Instagram stories earlier today. She doesn’t have much in the pipeline and I saw an interview recently where she said she was currently ‘unemployed’. Of course she could have just posted in support of the producers after Prima Facie. Jodie is rumoured to be in the MCU Fantastic Four. Just been confirmed that Vanessa Kirby got it instead!

Cast announced for A Taste of Honey Jill Halfpenny as Helen Rowan Robinson as Helen’s daughter Josephine David Moorst as Geoffery Obadiah as Jimmie Andrew Sheridan as Peter Nishla Smith as the Jazz Singer Trying not to book too much stuff at the minute. But always like seeing David Moorst. Just the thought of David Moorst playing Geoffrey makes me want to rescue him & give him a better life even more!

My pal got us tickets for one of the Saturdays. Couldn't quite get the ones he wanted so I'm guessing it's selling ok out of the gate? Which one of The Saturdays? I always quite fancied Una the Irish one. The one that nobody remembers who won Pop Star to Operastar on ITV. Vanessa?

Exactly, and why would he want to be associated with a lame sequel. They’re always rubbish. The two desperados were probably fourth or fifth choice. Shake at that “mle” 🙄. Surely not ..I am pretty sure ..that they both were first choice. .after the Grammy win..and because of the connections between Disney ..Emily Bear…and her agent Richard Kraft ..for years.. a female..who is under contract since the age of 16 next to this legends..Oscar,Tony etc. kraft-engel.com/clients/will never ever be fifth choice Yes, it seemed it was planned first as a series ..but in the end we all don‘t know.. Perhaps you should not be so negative..or not so full of envy…there seem to be a lot of „Piers Morgans“ here..lol screenrant.com/moana-2-announcement-disney-animated-movie-problems-fix/They're worse than Piers Morgans, they're gay Piers Morgans - Andrew Pierce's!! I think we need to be realistic in that Disney need to be pulling in more money & a Moana sequel, rather than another original film which flops, is a good way to do that. And it's not going to be straight-to-video quality is it?
