Does anyone think we might get an actual DVD of the film? Let's hope so, anita . I don't think I've ever mentioned that I've got a small part! That's unusual for a tall bloke!

Just looked at the advert proper and it's for a new play by Laura Lomas* which will be staged in the Minerva.
*Edit - just looked at her agent's website and it says she's adapting Miss Julie for Headlong for a 2024 tour.

Thought this would be the ideal juncture to start this year's thread...
Just seen on FB that Chichester are looking for supernumeraries aged 18-25 to play a movement ensemble of 'partygoers' in a play in collab with Headlong and Frantic Assembly.
Any insider gossip on what this might be?
Any other intel, bar Oliver!..?
Coram Boy was also mentioned by Barnaby.

Could the Grapes of Wrath be the Ben Whishaw play based on a book? I suppose he'd be good casting for Tom Joad.

Any more good plays coming? Antigone in the Lyttelton with a very good cast An adaptation of The Grapes of Wrath coming soon too What is it with the National reviving plays soon after their last version of it? Janet McTeer's Phaedra was only 14 years after Helen Mirren's. Now an Antigone only 12 years after the Jodie Whittaker/Christopher Eccleston production? Is Grapes of Wrath at the National too? They UK premiered the previous major adaptation by Frank Galati. You can't tell me they aren't other Greek tragedies or classic American novels that could do with an airing.

Best known to a whole generation of millennials as the second incarnation of T-Bag on Children's ITV.
Also, the randy guesthouse proprietor who tried it on with Victor Meldrew in Dorset.

Ouch, poor Carrie. For clarification alicechallice , I'm German myself, I find it strange and weird to see this post in a British theatre forum to begin with (and would find it just as strange if a Brit barreled into a German theatre forum shrieking about Gary Lineker or Wayne Rooney). And yea Beckenbauer "bought" the world cup 2006 for Germany, which was not a good look. I agree it is unusual but we have had conversations before about 'General Chat' being for whatever people want it to be, for the purpose of inclusivity. There's always plenty of football chatter around World Cup/Euro championships, of course. And we currently have a major play in the West End about football.

I have only just noticed the word 'corrupt' haha!
Sorry, Burly. I shouldn't be replying to things when I've only just woken up.
However, I did just google 'how bad a person is Franz Beckenbauer & the answer was 'not nearly as bad as Jeffrey Epstein, Oscar Pistorious or Carrie Hope Fletcher'.

And why should a British theatre forum care about a corrupt German footballer? Oh for Christ's sake, Burly why have you liked such an unpleasant comment?!! General Chat is for ANYTHING, isn't it? This is why this board has such a horrible reputation.

Ian Kelsey was at Sunset Boulevard this afternoon I used to see him a lot in Brighton, not sure if he still lives here. Having a former soap hunk randomly knocking about was always pleasant.

How would this work though if plans were already in place for Chichester's own production? If Justin Audibert was planning to direct, for example, or if the designer or musical director were already in place.
Does that all just get thrown out?
We've been talking about it on here for a few months so a lot must have been in the planning stages.
Happy Xmas everybody, btw.

Such a lovely prospect, though I've got a horrible feeling this could become a Fletcher family affair...

Saw this last night & thought it was lovely. Doesn't quite the scale the heights of Paddington 2 but its still a very endearing couple of hours with lots of good set pieces & cameos from our stalwarts.
Chalamet was great & I think it will go some way to opening up parts for him in an even more off-beat or even more mainstream direction.
Songs were surprisingly good too, and you could hear every lyric!!
It's been noted by some how it captures the feel of family musicals from the 60's and I would definitely concur. A treat.
Four chocolatey stars from me.

This reminds me of a Twitter thread from a while back where somebody stated that they always dump out their left over popcorn on the floor when leaving the cinema, purely out of habit. You would be amazed by how many people replied saying they did exactly the same thing. Unfathomable. Literally why though? For what purpose? How does a habit like that even form? People are terrible. Some theatres don't help themselves though. I know that DMT theatres have very few bins in their venues because "Cameron doesn't like them". When I worked at a cinema, I witnessed a kid do that just as we were opening the doors for the end of the film. I gave them such a bollocking. I don't think they had a parent with them though, I wouldn't have been brave enough to otherwise. Re: CamMac & bins, I noticed that at Wyndham's last night. I had to finish my coffee from McDonald's quickly in the queue to get in & was then surprised there were no bins in the foyer. Lovely BO person took it off me & put it in his bin.

May I ask, whilst I appreciate the strike that was on, has principle filming all been completed now? Doesn't sound like it, yet. I believe they're not able to do any more filming in the UK, so they must be setting something up in the US but there's been nothing yet to confirm they've started up again. I don't know if JB's 4 days of him shooting with stand-in's has taken much off the remaining 10 days of filming which needs to be done. Even if they have to do it after Xmas, they'll still be fine to make their release date, surely.

Think it's one I'm going to have to watch again, because on first viewing (at LFF) I was so confused as to how Claire Foy and Jamie Bell could be playing Andrew Scott's parents that it took me out of the film. I'm assuming you've worked it out by now? That's how old they were when they died. How discombobulating! I'm going to see it again when it comes out too.

Can’t complain if true. Love that show - and guessing it won’t take place in Blackpool with Sheader gone? This season will be Sheader's swansong.

I saw this last night at Cine-city, the Brighton Film Festival (is that where you were?) and also loved it BUT it was soooo sad!! Almost too sad, I thought. My friends and I were split on how much we liked the ending but we all did a fair bit of crying throughout. It was also incredibly sexy, which was nice.
Agree, the acting was phenomenal and it struck a lot of chords with all of us (gay guys in our mid-late 30's). The music was also completely divine.
I'm intrigued to check out the source material. Andrew Haigh is a superb film-maker.
