I saw Cabaret at this venue with a mostly British cast in English

I've heard cast members from the Shaftesbury production talk about performances where there more people on stage than in the audience.

Hello does anyone have a copy of the latest issue of this, which is published this week I believe?

Well I rather enjoyed this tonight! Definitely didn't feel too long and there were some genuinely gasp-inducing moments (I REALLY want to know how these tricks are done so please message me if you know!)
And Simon Lipkin is ageing like a fine wine...

You could literally put any words on that poster and it would tell you just about the same amount of information about the show.

They should take this off until it's ready.

Sorry but why on earth is this on stage for a paying audience if the cast don't know their lines?!

Opening delayed by 2 weeks, and extended to 11 May. Hi partytentdown where did it say the play was extending until 11th May? I ask again because I'm trying to factor in a trip in early May. In the email to people who have had their performance cancelled (e.g. the first two weeks) they offered first access to the extra added performances up to 11 May, presumably they are going to open it up to everyone else soon.

This may be me being terribly anal but the title of this play is 'Oh! What a Lovely War' with an exclamation mark after the 'Oh' - it really bugs me that this production has completely ignored that on all their publicity.

The model in there recently seems to be: pack 'em in cheap at weekends/holidays then just accept it will be fairly empty through the week. I guess the books must balance or people would stop using it!

Confirmed... Act 1 80 minutes, interval, Act 2 40 minutes. Interesting. Here right now at the interval. Act one was 65 minutes. Did they cut 15 mins out of act one?? When I saw it, it was after the moment where she comes to the front of the stage and drops a load of flowers (blackout). Act 2 opened with the scene with the fire and slippers.

The only scene that failed , was the big ball scene : it looked overworked and over-choreographed and it was tricky to work out the actual story. I may be going mad but I didn't think Pygmalion had a ball scene? I thought there was only the scene after the ball. Admittedly it's some years since I've seen Pygmalion but I've seen 3 productions over the years & I don't remember any of them having a ball; only the My Fair Lady productions I've seen have had one. Has a ball scene been added for this production? It's been years since I saw another production so maybe it is new, or the location has changed? It's a sort of ambassador's reception of some kind...

Anyone listening to any good podcasts, theatrical or otherwise? I usually have a backup list of quite a few but nothing is tickling my fancy at the moment.

I have to say I wasn't a fan of the stylised nature of some of the ensemble scenes like the ball. I didn't have a programme, did it explain why they are staged so robotically?

Is it traditionally costumed? Or modern? Eliza’s outfits get a slightly more modern silhouette as the play progresses but overall it was fairly traditional. Hmm not really. It's a mix of traditional clothing with anachronistic elements. She's wearing trainers in the first scene!
