I remember when this was first announced with Eddie Redmayne and Jessie Buckley. I said I would give my eye teeth to see them - then I saw the price of the tickets and realised forget the eye teeth, I would need to sell a kidney for decent seats. Then as it progressed and I read more, my enthusiasm waned over the weeks, months and now years. I never did get to see them, or anyone else, and now wild horses wouldn't drag me there. Funny ain't it?

If it is Hugh Jackman then it will probably sell out during the pre-sale. Oh heavens, I'd better sign up then!

I caught up with this earlier in the week. Having read contrasting reports, I wasn't sure whether it would be my cup of tea. I knew it was about three sets of people in a block of flats in Sheffield, but hadn't twigged that it was the same flat, so it was interesting to see the connections between everyone. I quickly became invested in the characters, and loved the music, especially the rockier numbers, although I have to admit I wasn't struck on some of the choreography. All in all, I really enjoyed it, and have been thinking about it a lot since seeing it, which is always a good thing in my book. A solid 4*.

Well, if they chuck in a matinee, I'll be there. Matinee on the Tuesday according to an email this morning. 3 performances in total. Great news - thank you Sean.

I once sat next to Cliff Parisi, aka Minty from Eastenders and, more recently, Fred from Call The Midwife. He was very friendly and we got chatting. He offered me some crisps from a Pringle-like container. I politely took one, when he grabbed my hands and shook out a whole load of them into my palms. Unfortunately (a) the crisps were coated in some sort of flavoured powder, and (b) the curtain promptly went up for the second act. Not wanting to appear in the Bad Behaviour thread, I duly felt obliged not to crunch said crisps, but sucked them to death instead. By the time I'd finished, my hands were covered in sticky red goo from the crisp coating and I recall then having to scrabble in my bag for a tissue to clean them!

I recall two elderly ladies eyeing up a couple of vacant seats in the middle of the row in front of me, as they didn't like the ones they had at the end of the row. Meanwhile, a man at the opposite end of the row was also after one of the empty seats, which were nearer to his friends. It literally descended into "I was here first" from the ladies, to "I want to be near my friends" from the man. In the end FOH was called, who consulted an Ipad and said no one could have the seats as they were marked as sold. As soon as the lights went down the ladies promptly moved into the vacant seats regardless. I think we were all hoping someone would turn up late to turf them out!

I would rather someone falling asleep than muttering to their neighbour any day! Oh I don't know. I remember an incident where the hero was declaring his undying love to his sweetheart, amid total silence, until .... a deafening snore from the front stalls shattered the moment. Everyone around was in stitches, and I don't know how the cast carried on!

This reminds me of a Japanese lady in front of me at the Sondheim who had purchased a hot, presumably Japanese but possibly Chinese (I wasn't close enough to examine it!) dinner. She was told she could leave it with them and collect it after the show, which she was quite happy to do.
I've seen someone try to take in a large pizza, which was refused, so the group all stood to one side and consumed it outside the theatre.
I have also witnessed a full, three course picnic being consumed in the front row, in full view of the cast. Can't recall offhand where, but it wasn't London.

It's FOH I feel sorry for. When I saw Donny in Pantoland at the Palladium, half the front row was filming him, and he was going along waving to them and saying 'hi!' into their phones. Staff trying to monitor that could have a problem or several!

Back from the matinee and ... I absolutely loved it! I was around for the original Live Aid, but just took this as a plain old story, and deliberately didn't try to make any in depth analyses. I just sat back and enjoyed the narrative and music (actually, it would have been very easy to end up in the Bad Behaviour thread, as it was all I could do not to sing my way through the entire show, never mind having to sit on my hands so as not to wave them in the air at appropriate moments!). An easy 4.5 from me.

I've had varifocals for a few years now, with no problems going around and about. However, I usually sit in the stalls at the theatre, but recently had seats in the Dress Circle. I suddenly realised I was looking through the reading section of my specs and couldn't see the stage, so ended up with them on the end of my nose in order to look through the distance bit! If I sit in the front stalls I find I can manage without them anyway.

Judging by Alfie's previous attendance records, I expect Killian will be clocking up a few more appearances than those currently advertised!

I had an email about this earlier today. The first thing to strike me was the advice bar running across the top of the booking page, which states the running time is 1 hr 45 mins without an interval. No latecomers, no readmissions and no refunds to latecomers.

The delicious Julian Ovenden is currently in Trigger Point, the latest thriller on ITV. I know he's done a lot of telly work as well as theatre, but thought it worth a mention.

I sat behind a parent who, for the entire show, persisted in stroking her child's hair as if she was a pet dog. I don't know how the little girl put up with it!

Can't say I'm particularly excited, but my OH, who hasn't set foot in a theatre since circa 2018, is already expressing interest!

At The King and I matinee yesterday, a child not much more than a toddler burbling and chatting throughout the show (so much so that the couple sitting in front asked to be moved), culminating in an almighty seat-kicking tantrum in Act 2. To their credit, the parent did immediately take out said child, but the theatre website specifically states that "children under the age of 5 cannot be admitted to the theatre", and this kid was clearly well under that.

I was intrigued too and, being older, am qualified for their senior rate at certain midweek matinees, so am happy to have snagged a front row seat for £33.00.

Was there this afternoon. I have seen all the Palladium pantos since 2016 and can categorically state (in my humble opinion) that this is the worst of the lot. I actually came out thinking 'what a load of rubbish'. It started well, Julian and Rob were the standout stars, but by the second half it was as if everyone had given up. Plot? What plot?
