I need seating advice. Buying tickets for a friend’s birthday. Got a £100 per ticket budget. Do I go Dress Circle Row E central or Row K seats 3-4? Both are Green on Theatremonkey’s map but unsure which would be better? Also - why are just those seats green in Row K? Stalls Row H at the side are another option but I believe I’ve read that Dress Circle is better at that price point? Thanks in advance. Both are great view. Depends on whether you want to be a bit closer to the stage (row K) or a bit further away but with a more central view (row E). Really helpful thanks. I’ve gone for Row K 3-4 to be a bit closer.

I take it from the above posts that the £70 back of Dress Circle seats are still pretty good for this show? And may actually be better than £100 seats at the rear of stalls where the overhang might obstruct?

That is a proper snub. Shocker.

It’s a new production. Troubadour Light City I believe.

Surely this is an early contender for “worst behaviour of the year”?

I think it's odd for a relatively well-known actress to do a replacement in a supporting role. I'm guessing they're going to have her do it in London and then she'll originate the role in the US when it opens there. Dates certainly line up with a mid June opening in Toronto (as long as the Canadian government stop with their archaic Covid approach). She finishes in London 3 days before the Toronto premiere. Seems a bit tight.

What’s next? You’re in Gypsy at the Ally Pally next month Melanie, had you forgotten? Which Keala Settle is also performing in!

Still struggling with the concept of rolling up to the theatre at 6pm for a 7.30 show as ATG ask me to do for School of Rock this week. What the actual you-know-what do they expect me to do for 90 minutes? Even if the auditorium was open, which it won’t be until 7.15, I’m still not prepared to do this because I see no rhyme or reason for it. In fact I think it’s dangerous. If this is about forcing people into the bars it is a dreadfully cynical move by ATG or any theatre doing this. The Palace has some reasonably sized public areas, certainly bigger than some theatres but equally nowhere near big enough to accommodate this policy safely. I’ll turn up about 7.15, join a queue in the fresh air outside and be in my seat for 7.25 as has been the case for years. I went to see Les Mis in Glasgow and was given a 6:15pm entry for a 7:30pm show. We turned up just after 7pm and walked in. The real kicker? All bars and seating areas were closed due to COVID staff shortages so everyone was ushered straight into the auditorium! Drinks only available via their Ordertorium site (and in cans only!).

Has anyone with Glasgow tickets had an update on what is happening with the dates? I was meant to be there on Thursday (6th) but still haven’t heard anything from ATG regarding rescheduling or refunds.

Returning to the West End at the Gielgud with "all-new star casting" to be announced. Runs from Saturday 4 December 2021 - Saturday 12 February 2022. I suspect this is a precursor to a tour. I heard it was in the works.

I love Rocky but I can’t believe they’re traipsing out this same production AGAIN with some of the same cast, let alone broadcasting a lesser version of it to cinemas (at least the last broadcast had guest narrators including Richard O’Brien).
I’d love to see it but I can’t justify the high price of a ticket these days for a production I’ve already seen multiple times.

The Go-Go’s have just been announced as Billy Idol’s support act for his UK Arena Tour next year (their first UK live shows in over a decade, apparently?). Maybe they are getting the brand built up a bit to get this on the road.
I could see Divina de Campo stepping into the role Peppermint and Alaska have been doing.

Have they done rewrites over the pandemic? Some of these character names are different while other characters don’t appear at all?

It is a small theatre for a star like Amy Adams to be appearing in but I guess it means they can use dynamic pricing to its full effect.

I’ve heard a name and if it’s true, I am very surprised they’re going down the stunt casting route this early on….

What's the bit with the palm trees they're showing on Instagram? The ticket office? Is it always like that, or is that a Cinderella thing? Palm trees are in the box office area, yes. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they've been there a while pre-Cinderella. I have absolutely no idea why they're there. The theatre shares a building with the Tropicana Beach nightclub. Looks like they were using their entry space as a spillover box office last night, hence the beach theming.

On reflection, do we think that Megan Mullally would’ve been able to do the level of tap that Sutton seems to be doing? I just can’t picture her in the role.

It's a bit strange that Nica is taking Jamie off but I guess she doesn't want to lose Six to another theatre operator. The new Nimax theatre is opening next year so it could be a potential home for Jamie but at the same time, Nica may want a new show to open her new theatre. Was Magic Goes Wrong meant to be a limited run before they had to close or was it planned to be open ended. It was planned to be open ended. It’s a very technical show so can’t see them moving both Six and Magic across town. Surely Six will be better suited to the Apollo in the meantime? I’m surprised that Nica is happy to shut Jamie with the film coming out in September. I presume it will be a “reserve” if Bob Marley/The Drifters Girl doesn’t sell as well as planned?

Looking at the Bedknobs tour dates, the most I could envisage happening is the show taking up a Monday evening residency at a theatre. Otherwise, it will probably be Summer 2022 before any transfer is likely (Edinburgh Fringe, perhaps?).

I finished it a few days ago. Brilliant book. Had to check if a few of the aforementioned WTF moments actually happened as described and yep, they did! Wish I could see the show now.

Surely Edinburgh would be a no brainier for a sit-down production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child? It’s far enough from London to not massively damage prospects there but Edinburgh also gets a lot of Harry Potter tourism. Stick it in the Festival Theatre and leave the Playhouse for the big tours.

I saw the show 4 times in its first year and Giles was off every single time so I presume this will be more a pamphlet rather than a full journal.

It is being filmed tomorrow. Maybe ITV will broadcast? I imagine it will be next Christmas rather than this one if schedules are already locked in?
