There’s a TikTok vlogger (who is usually quite accurate when it comes to Broadway tea) who is saying this is booked into Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre next summer? I’d be surprised to see it there but as I said, he’s usually quite accurate when it comes to Broadway details…

Surely we’ll be looking at an announcement on October 3rd?

Pete Waterman on BBC Breakfast saying they want people standing up and singing along, indeed it will be a failure if that doesn't happen.... 😲 Why is he not doing a “Pete Waterman presents…” style tribute show then? Spot the man who has no idea what a musical theatre audience is…

I went to a Eurovision Semi Final afternoon dress rehearsal last month and Graham Norton (who only hosted the main final) watched the whole thing from the contestant area with a coffee in hand. Watched him wave along to Loreen, jump up and down for Cha Cha Cha. It was like a strange version of Gogglebox.

And the show continues to collect West End theatres like they’re Pokemon.
Moving to the Apollo from May.

Any word on new casting yet? We’re only a few weeks away. Surely rehearsals will have started for the new leads?

Any recommendations of where to sit? Honestly the £30 seats in the grand circle are all perfectly fine. You get a bit of a bird's eye view, but there are very minimal obstructions and those are the cheapest tickets. If you're willing to pay a little bit more, the £50 seats in the back row of the 'stage side' dress circle are really good. As are the front row centre seats of the grand circle for the same price. I got a £350 Table Seat for £120 a few days beforehand but without the food options. Row D in Stalls, first raised row, slap bang in centre, basically at eye level with the performers. One of the best seats I’ve ever had. If I were you, I’d wait until closer to the date and see if dynamic pricing kicks in to try and nab a last minute bargain.

I went to see this with a bad hangover yesterday and the overenthusiastic singing and dancing children made it the worst movie viewing experience of my life.
I was rooting for the Trunchbull by the end.

There are no musicals performing on Children in Need tonight. Music performances are from Lewis Capaldi, Diversity and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
They’ve pulled back on CIN programming for the first time this year with the main show now finishing at 10pm as opposed to the early hours of the morning. They are also filming it in MediaCityUK in Salford now, as opposed to London. I imagine these two factors have made getting musical performances more difficult.

Sad news but I guess it’s had a good run.
Can see this doing very well on your and returning to the West End in a smaller scals in a few years.

I am so so so so SO thrilled for them. This was without a doubt the best show I’ve ever seen at the Edinburgh Fringe. A West End run will hopefully send this into the stratosphere. They deserve every single award and accolade they have coming.

This has got to be one of the most visually spectacular shows I have ever seen.
Pet peeve - when shows go up “late” but still manage to end on time. Just tell us that the show is going to start late! I was in a proper rush to get there after a day at work and was then sat for 10 minutes in my seat before the show actually started. The “20 minute intermission” then lasted for exactly 30 minutes too!
Act 1 - 19:41-20:24 Interval - 20:24-20:54 Act 2 - 20:54-21:52
Tell you what though, you can see where your ticket money has gone in this show! Wow, it is a proper spectacle. This has higher production values than some A-list pop concerts I’ve seen at The O2. It’s part cabaret, part dance, part burlesque with a heavy influence on fashion obviously. I really enjoyed it and loved having no clue at what the hell would happen next.
They probably went too big on the venue (the entire upper section was closed off and the “stalls” were only 3/4 full) but it doesn’t feel big given how they incorporate the catwalk and lighting through the venue.
There are deals aplenty around for this and the TodayTix Rush Seats don’t seem to be selling our daily so if you can get a good price, I cannot recommend this highly enough. An electric, intense, shocking and bonkers evening at the theatre.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the economics of such heavy discounting - a big chunk of seats are £10. Is it better to have a full theatre of discounts than a half empty one at full price? The theatres often have a say in a certain percentage of seats being allowed to be discounted/comped. I guess in their view it’s better to have those seats filled with possible bar takings than them lying empty?

I had a run-in with the security on Saturday night. Completely justified but also put a slight dampener on my evening.
We were stood in the Gold Bar before the show started (there was no pre show taking place at this point either) when I saw I had a message from my mum. Quickly replied “In the theatre, no phones allowed, speak later”. The security guard walked over to me and went “No photos allowed in here” so I replied “I know, I was texting my mum” and he replied “No you weren’t, I saw you taking a photo”. Now, at this point I’ve got the sticker on my phone so not sure how I could have even taken a photo. I didn’t want to get in an argument but he was getting quite stern in how he was talking and I really thought he was going to chuck me out. We went back and forth for I’d say 30 seconds or so when he uttered “I saw the gold on your photo, don’t lie to me”. At that point, I felt the need to pull out my phone to show him the text and, in fairness to him, he apologised straight away.
He did apologise as soon as he realised he’d made a mistake but I have to say, it’s still playing on my mind a few days later. Of course, in the main auditorium itself people were on their phones before the show started. But was I in the wrong for sending a short text in the bar beforehand? I am all for “keeping the secrets” but does that extend to a total phone ban in the pre-show areas?

Just managed to swap my Dress Circle tickets for a table for next Saturday at the same price. Very excited!
The only downside? My “entry time” is now 6:15pm?! How strictly do they stick to these times? It seems very early for a 7:30pm start.

My entry time is 7:30pm but I’m concerned that means I’m straight into the theatre and will miss out on some of the “immersive” pre show. Does the show actually start at 7:30?

Article on Dezeen magazine suggests that the ABBA theatre - designed to be demountable - will be 'relocated when the show ends in five years'. www.dezeen.com/2022/06/09/abba-arena-stufish-virtual-tour/That is clearly the length of planning permission they have got, rather than a suggestion that the show will run that long. The site has been marked for social housing from late 2026, so they have the site until then at the latest.

Bit of a shocker. I’ve rarely seen any deals for it. I guess the Noel Coward got a better offer and invoked a clause?

I love how they cite her “travelling across the country” as being an issue for her knee when she completed her own solo UK Tour a few weeks ago (which probably would’ve been a more gruelling schedule than 1 travelling day each week).

Fra Fee has been cast in the new Rebel Moon film which they have just started filming. I imagine he will be leaving at the end of June to fulfil his commitments on that?

Daniel Radcliffe doing a June-September three month stint would make more sense than a one-month appearance.
Would certainly make the show a hot ticket once again.

What ever happened to the Mean Girls west end transfer? I always thought I could picture Mean Girls in the Gillian Lynne. I think Nica Burns is involved so more likely to go to one of her theatres than a RUG.

The moaning about Jessie has moved to the Oliver 22 Prince Edward thread. #cancelled This show is old hat now, in fairness. The stars have done their contracts, the prices remain(!). Imagine paying £250 for two people you've never heard of compared to two Oscar nominated actors who are hot property in 2022!!??. Nobody in their right mind would be booking at this stage at those prices. Cheaper seats now? Brilliant! Guess why? Because THE STARS ARE GONE. This is the home stretch, without an astounding casting coup. I wonder if Cumming would do it for the right fee? This thread will drift over the next few months talking exclusively about ticket prices, then the show will be gone within 18 months. As will all of the paid shills. I think someone mentioned on this thread before that the show will need to run for 5 years to recoup the costs of the theatre renovations. Given it’s being produced by Underbelly, it wouldn’t surprise me to see one-nighters put into the space before long to add additional revenue. This show ain’t going anywhere soon.
